ANCHORAGE, Alaska — Former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin said she cut short her Hawaii vacation because of paparazzi, who photographed her wearing a sun visor with the name of John McCain blacked out.

The pictures were circulated widely on the Internet with speculation the redaction was a slight against McCain, but Palin said she meant no disrespect to her former GOP running mate.

"In an attempt to 'go incognito,' I Sharpied the logo out on my sun visor so photographers would be less likely to recognize me and bother my kids or other vacationers," Palin said in a statement.

I dream of a president who would use an “I Sharpied the logo out on my sun visor” approach to federal spending.

And if it wasn’t intentional are you going to keep saying it was a smart move to pull such a stunt.

The excuse she gave is flimsy. The conduct was not savvy.

Those of you that are blindly praising her are not doing her any favors.

She needs to smarten up ..or get better handlers and advisors.

Isn’t that the sweetest and most darling photo of Mama Sarah and toddler Trig you’ve ever seen? I’ve saved it.

Are you being obtuse on purpose?

This site would be all over Hillary if she did such a move...but yet people here can’t seem to see that it was a mistake for Palin to do what she did.

This is nothing! This is merely one more piece of evidence that the many look for any excuse to pounce on Sarah Palin. If there is none, they fabricate issues.

You do realize that she cut short her vacation NOT because of the visor incident, but because of the intrusive media that was bothering fellow vacationers, right?

"...who photographed her wearing a sun visor with the name of John McCain blacked out."

Perhaps an unintentional fluke conveying the necessity of her freeing herself from everything tainted John McCain.

The visor incident never caught on with the media. It was a non-starter. Much ado about nothing. I haven’t seen an objectionable published photo, have you?

It must burn you that Sarah draws the huge crowds and overnight in the snow and freezing weather by the thousands.

The wannabees will never have her popularity.
Palin is daily writing articles on the major issues, some being op eds in the Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, National Review online, etc.

Bash her all you want, it won’t help your candidate, he is already a never was

"If Hillary showed up in a baseball cap with the name of her running mate marked out ..boy ..would this site have a field day."

She marked everything out, not just McCain's name; she turned it into a plain blue visor.

There's nothing wrong with what Sarah did; its the Drive-bys that we should be laughing at for following someone so 'irrelevant.'

Hay, I support Sarah just as much as anyone around here, and my first thought at seeing that picture was amusement - that she scribbled out "McCain" as a sort of tongue-in-cheek dig at the DC establishment and its media lapdogs. I'm all for that, and it would be in keeping with her "Rogue" image :)

Perhaps I should have put a 'wink smiley' next to my comment to indicate my amusement of her 'gaming' the gamers of the media by confounding them with the hat and then subsequent 'flimsy' excuse ... my guess is that both were done intentionally for that very reason. Sarah is turning into one heck of a good player, and always with a smile, which confounds them even more .....

"Sorry Sarah, but that excuse is just flimsy"

How so? Why do you think she covered all the graphics? Is she anti-art?

You were on the original thread.

You missed this thread, titled Palin supports McCain '100 percent' [Palin pushes back at TMZ 'disprespect' meme] wherein many of us have already expressed our opinions.

This thread is old news to us regarding the visor and her statements about John McCain.

Her TWEET explains why they returned home to Alaska a little earlier than planned --- the intrusive media.

This is a pretty poor excuse. She could have easily worn another hat..and there is no way she could go incognito but just wearing a ball cap. She goes on vacation and can’t take a different hat??????

Wow Sherlock. You're on to her and her evil caper.

LOL!
