Do you live in the happiest state in America? Well if you live in New York, you're in the least happy state according to the Huffington Post article. The top thing on the list that made the Empire State the least happy was the government. One resident described the government as “…corrupt, self-dealing and too quick to increase taxes.”
It is no secret that New York has had a troubled government for sometime now. Constantly cutting well needed programs for children and the elderly. Not being able to pass a budget in a timely fashion or one that works for that matter. The lack of governmental leadership that this state has is causing a lot of issues that runs right down to the county level.
Just recently it was announced that an area nursing home, Waterfront Health Care Center might be closing mainly due to the Medicaid cut backs that have happened year after year. This might be the fate of other local nursing home whose population is largely Medicaid. Where are these people supposed to go? If you keep closing these nursing homes it is just going to over crowd other ones which will put a strain on the staff that can cause other serious concerns. Not to mentions people who will be out of a job.
As someone who works in a nursing home setting, it is extremely sad to know that those who can not take care and speak for themselves are being forgotten.
Most Liberal states are the least happiest. They complain about the very Government they keep electing...Democrats.
This story contradicts itself. Says the NY government is to quick to raise taxes, but then blames the government for reducing services for children and seniors.
There is no hope for these states!!!!

It’s amazing how libs twist things around. The people feel the government is oppressive with self serving corruption and heavy taxes, yet this article declares the people are unhappy because the government lacks programs and cuts back on services — a huge disconnect.
I live in one of the happiest states (Florida). Along with our sunshine and warm weather, we have no income tax. The taxes we do have can feel oppressive, but cut backs don’t cause us to feel sad, and the tax rebates make us happier. I know they will probably have to cut out the tax holidays, but our constitution and republican state house and senate keep them from running amok with taxes so I’m looking forward to even more happy days — forclosures and all.
How can that be. They have the most liberal (insane) (deranged) political leadership in the country.
At least some NJ counties have sane counties. NY, none!
Even CA has a few pockets of sanity.
The ratio of bad to acceptable sentences in the article is about 3:2. I didn’t think SUNY Buffalo was that bad of a school.

There are a number of “sane counties” and many sane people.
We are outnumbered by the tremendous population density of NYC and the surrounding downstate area.
Most of the state is a long way from NYC.
Look at a map sometime.
New York is the Septic Tank State and New Jersey the Leech Field State.
So, NY’s are the unhappiest in all 50 States because of what they call a tax raising and corrupt State government, yet keep electing the same people time after time.
Here is the definition of insanity:

Do we need any further proof that ignorance of Democrats is at the cellular level and more probably baked into their genes at this point.
To all you liberal Dems in NY, NJ. Stay there! We don't want or need your liberal votes anywhere else. YOU made the problems in your states, YOU fix it!
Well, there is some room in the House and Senate, right next to Bobby Byrd and ... If they run out of places there, just put the old-timers on the payroll as staffers. The results would probably be the same, even though the legislation would still smell like poo.

As a resident in the “least happy State” and a worker in a Medicaid funded Not for Profit organization, I can honestly say that the crisis with Medicaid was a long time in the making. Back in the late ‘80s, Medicaid began shovelling huge amounts of money into social programs that supported the closing of large institutional type programs and the opening of smaller, but far more numerous ones. Money was being poured into finding group homes in affluent neighborhoods that were incredibly expensive and paid for with the Medicaid dime. Of course, the gravy train had to end sometime, and that time is now. NYS is a beautiful state but I am wondering if I should begin to think of moving.
Like the people in #23 and the people who elected Gillibrand? Give me a break. I do read about the NY State legislature when I need a good laugh, that is.
So I know enough about NY, more than I ever wanted to know.
