U.N. Chief: 'We Have a Deal' on Climate Change (Obama pledges $100 billion to monitor cow farts)

The U.N. climate conference narrowly escaped collapse Saturday as bitterly divided delegates agreed after all-night talks to recognize a political compromise that President Barack Obama brokered with China and other emerging powers.

The Copenhagen Accord was bogged down for hours by protests from delegates who felt they were excluded from the process or said the deal didn't go far enough in cutting the greenhouse gas emissions that cause global warming.

After a break, the conference president gaveled a decision to "take note" of the agreement instead of formally approving it. Experts said that clears the way for the accord to begin even though it was not formally approved by the conference.

"We have a deal in Copenhagen," U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said, adding "this is just the beginning" of a process to craft a binding pact to reduce emissions. He said the agreement "will have an immediate operational effect."

Disputes between rich and poor countries and between the world's biggest carbon polluters -- China and the U.S. -- dominated the two-week conference in Copenhagen, the largest and most important U.N. meeting ever on fighting global warming.

If I wasn’t happily retired, I do believe I’d start some sort of methane monitoring business. I have no clue how to do it, but how hard could it be? After all, I did drive by a cow once.

I say we each buy a cow and keep them in our yards. Augusta Tabor did. Milked it herself, too.

“The Tabor Triangle”

Maybe we could each get federal grant $$ for it.

All train services to France have been suspended after more than 2,000 spent the night trapped inside the Channel Tunnel.

Eurostar has blamed extreme weather conditions in northern France for causing four Eurostar trains to break down on their way to Kent. Further wintry weather is expected in the south east of England tonight and across the Channel

A statement on the Eurostar website said: “Eurostar has confirmed that it has cancelled all services today because of continuing severe weather conditions in northern France.

Article give Obama credit for "brokering" the deal.

Hopefully he won't be as successful getting our stupid Senate to accept this POS.

The thick blanket of snow covering much of the country threatens to wipe tens of millions of pounds off the £1.1 billion spending spree that retailers had been hoping for this weekend. The disappointment closes one of the toughest years in decades.

Some supermarkets were left with gaps on their shelves after lorries were unable to leave depots. Neil Saunders, lead analyst at Verdict, a retail consultancy, said: “It’s the worst possible timing. These two days are peak shopping.

“Most people will have done some shopping, but would have banked on leaving this weekend free.”

Even if shoppers find time to shop next week, they are less likely to make the impulse purchases on which retailers thrive during the vital Christmas period. Many lose money throughout the year until December.

The UN is delusional. The Third World has already rejected the agreement. As for the $100 billion pledged by the US, its not at all clear where the money is going to come from.

It’s clear where the money will come from. The IRS now accepts Visa and Mastercard.

A lot of hot air with a weasel worded unenforceable agreement which will be quickly ignored. And, that’s the good news.

The Third World couldn’t care less about GW or climate change. I’m sure behind closed doors they laugh at Western stupidity that GW represents. They will sign on to whatever is agreed to as long as they get their cut. A few billion $$ a year is better than nothing.

I want Obama to have a press conference in Washington about the great achievement in Hoaxenhagen but it's probably to hard since the media can't get through the blizzard.

He saved Europe from Global Warming? I guess if you don't use the coldest Country temps that might effect things like Russia.

Lets see borrow money from China to give to places like China. Worse than the Mafia.
