Ben is aptly named. Benedict Arnold betrayed his country. Benedict Nelson betrayed his country for less.

Those that do *not* stand up for life will be known by Satan (by name!) as well, so you might as well get God's "lift-ticket" now rather than take the devil's downward slope later on.:)

I agree.

If you believe Huck is a RINO, that's all fine and well. Don't vote for the man.

Don't VOTE for him? WTH? If you think that just because Mike Huckabee is rallying against the abortion issue HE is going to be our next nominee, THINK AGAIN!

Good for Mr. Huckabee that he sees fit to rally the people in Nebraska. But this single issue is not enough to get me to vote for this man who obviously has found a pathway to what he perceives will bring him redemption. The Huckster, BTW..gave up his calling to be a man of the cloth and isn't all you perceive him to be.

I will be a constant thorn in YOUR side when you start pushing him on us for POTUS!! And I won't be alone.

I am not a Huck fan, but I signed the Petition and wrote this in the comments:

The Democrats in Congress have turned out to be nothing more that a Parliment of Whoes, to quote P.J, O' Rourke. This a horrible bill that the vast majority of Americans oppose. I hope the Citizens of Nebraska fire you in the next election.

Did you read the whole thing? Huckabee is going to lead a protest AGAINST Obama Care and Ben Nelson (who folded just like a “good” Democrat who gets the right pork/bribe).

Huckabee has lots of faults, but on this- he is doing the right thing. And no, I don’t want him as our President, but we shouldn’t fight when folks are on the correct side of an issue.

"... I will be a constant thorn in YOUR side when you start pushing him on us for POTUS!! And I won't be alone." ---

You *really* jump to conclusions (and hostility!) ... My dream candidate currently is Bobby Jindal, not Mike Huckabee, although I suppose I could change my mind later on down the road ... I merely said that Mike Huckabee was doing a service for the unborn ...

No, I don't *really* jump to conclusions (and hostility!). It comes from the experience I've had (for over a decade) being on this particular forum. It's an ability to see where a poster is coming from and where they are headed.

And the BS you are putting out about "I suppose I could change my mind later on down the road" is a dead give a way.

Now is not the time...but you are going to meet with more than you can handle when you start pushing Mike as your candidate. That's a promise.

There is a time and place to protest Huck’s record, but I dont think this is it. He’s on the right side on this issue.

agreed....he has some heavy RINO ways...but let him be useful if he has the mind to be....

No, they didn't vote for cloture yet. All that happened is that Nelson said he'd vote for cloture. All politicians go back on promises. He can go back on that one.

As I understand it, due to the fact that were were different versions of this bill and/or amendments submitted and floating around the precedural cesspool, there's THREE cloture votes coming up, as announced by Reid; they each require 60 vots, and a NO on ANY of them would effectively kill the bill:

Monday, 1:00 AM – Vote to end debate on the manager’s amendment. 60 votes are necessary.

Tuesday, 8:00 AM – Vote to invoke cloture on the original Reid substitute amendment (the 2,000-page bill). 60 votes are necessary.

Wednesday, 3:00 PM – Vote to invoke cloture on the underlying bill. 60 votes are necessary.

Still praying? Good. So keep working, too. You can only pray for what you'd work for.

I have a whole list of fictitious NE addresses. They’re really easy to manufacture. On the message page there are addresses of Nelson’s local offices. Use those cities and those zip codes, and any street name you like (e.g. 100 Park Street.)

I agree with you and also with all the others on this thread who have expressed a like opinion.

What’s important here is that we are smart enough to know what hill we want to die on. In this case, I go with Huckabee and the protest.

Elections come later and can be dealt with then.

This issue is for now and we need unified support on this issue at this time.

Thanks for the update and explanation.

I went looking for what the cloture bill was about the other day...it was the Pentagon funding bill, and some Republicans had voted for cloture, when they could have voted against and thus held up the health care bill.
