Well, as it turns out, Washington DC residents know exactly how much of a joke 911 is in their own town, after a cop. Pulled a gun. On kids. Throwing snowballs. Yeah, and they're reading this cop the riot act.

what an assclown.
The cop was being an idiot but in all honesty you have to take into account the sitatuion.
There were a bunch of rowdy (ghetto) kids who were acting up and seeing as how it was DC anything could happen.
Cops need to show off thier guns and frighten the kids back in shape sometimes but this would not of been the best time.
According to the Channel 9 news yesterday afternoon, the reason the policeman had his pistol drawn was that when the report calling officers to the snowball fight, the police dispatcher stated that one of the snowballers was carrying a weapon. Thus the policeman had his service automatic pulled.
The video showed him keeping it pointed at the ground, his trigger finger laying alongside the barred, not on the trigger.
And it also showed him holstering the pistol after the “armed snowballer” identified himself as an plain clothes policeman. At no time, on the tv video did the policeman point the pistol at any of the snowballers.
This is one case of criticizing the policeman is a “cheap shot”
I think the “ghetto kids” were from Geo Washington University.
If true it sounds as if the officer did EXACTLY the right thing.
White snow - black cop. Obviously racism at play here.
That cop needs to be ripped a new one for doing that, what a jackass.
This is. An intriguing. Story with. Excellent punctuation. usage, bro.

I clicked on the link. Apparently the video and report I saw on TV was of a uniform officer answering the police net call, NOT of the armed detective in the Hummer.
Still, the snowballer’s were in the wrong as far as pelting cars driving by, what if the driver had swerved and hit a few of them because he was blinded by the snowballs on his windshield.
current tuition for 1 year at Geo Washington Univ is $40,000. I have an intern working for me who is attending there and that is what she said her 1st year as a grad student cost.
Did not look or sound like “ghetto kids”. and since when aren’t ghetto kids allowed to have a snow ball fight. Am frustrated that people who are alarmed over ever-expanding intrusive, thieving, oppressive government have no problem with that same government’s armed enforcers.
This guy over reacted. Whatever happened to good judgment? Maybe that’s only in the movies.
I hesitate to make the race observation, but since Mr. Soetero opened that can of worms, I have to wonder if this Detective isn’t feeling a more “empowered”, knowing (from the example of AG Holder) that he will never be held accountable. Especially in D.C.
Oh come on! It’s a SNOWBALL not a rock. And it’s not like they were impairing visibility like, say, a blizzard would.
If you’re concerned about getting snow on your HUMMER, then maybe you shouldn’t live or work in DC, right?
The officer was told by dispatch that someone on the scene was waving a gun around.
I think he took good precautions as he approached the culprits. He held it down and at his side with his trigger finger along the barrel, then he holstered it quickly as he sized up the situation and found out the person on the scene with a gun was an off duty policeman.
Before you criticize get the facts. Also try taking a walk around DC yourself without protection and see how many blocks you get. I lived there for a few years in the 80s and it is smart to be prepared for he worst.
Professional agitators. Thus the video camera. Cops fall for it every time. I hope the camera person peed a little.
It’s not the uniformed policeman I’ve criticized in this story; it’s the plainclothes-detective whose actions I find ridicule-worthy.
One of the news stations reported on a big snowball fight in DC.
Apparently it was the first snowball fight organized via Twitter.
People were urged to show up at a certain corner at a certain time.
The clip I saw showed what looked to be a lot of college kids pelting each other w snowballs and having a great time.
The intersection was empty during the clip they showed.
Before you criticize get the facts.
I meant “Before others criticize get the facts”.
Sorry, was not directing that comment towards you GreyFriar.
