Democrats’ Health Bill Passes Key Senate Vote Republicans pledge to fight on despite losing early Monday
WASHINGTON - Senate Democrats’ health care overhaul passed a key test in a party-line vote early Monday, in a dramatic defeat for Republicans that put the legislation on track for Christmas-week passage.
In the run-up to the vote, the escalation in rhetoric was remarkable on both sides of an issue that has divided the two political parties for months.
"This process is not legislation. This process is corruption," said Sen. Tom Coburn, R-Okla., referring to the last-minute flurry of dealmaking that enabled Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., and the White House to lock in the 60 votes needed to approve the legislation.
Democratic Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse of Rhode Island responded in near-Biblical terms. In a speech on the Senate floor, he said Republicans are embarked on a "no-holds barred mission of propaganda, obstruction and fear. ... There will be a reckoning. There will come a day of judgment about who was telling the truth."
First 60-vote test coming up Whatever else it was, the legislation represented the culmination of a year's work for Democrats, pressed by President Barack Obama to remake the nation's health care system.

It's the rise of FASCISM fed by greed and envy. A large portion of our population thinks they are going to get something and the other "rich guy" is going to pay for it.
However, what we are really getting is CORPORATISM, the marriage of a select group of corporations with govt. The govt will control them with oversight and regulations. In return the corps are given a defacto monopoly and guaranteed profits. The profits will be assured 2 ways. The young will be forced to buy health insurance at prices that subsidize the older population. The health insurance companies will be able to restrict coverage.
And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

When Joe Wilson shouted out in Congress during an Obozo speech “YOU LIE !!”, he was telling the TRUTH about Obama’s statement that the bill did NOT have a provision to cover illegal immigrants. There are NO TWO WAYS about it!! Either Obama LIED, or he was UNAWARE of what the bill had in it !! So which is it?: Obama LIED or Obama is IGNORANT ???

Ten Dems and one Repub in the House who voted for the House bill said they did so ONLY because of the Stupak amendment.
All eleven are not going to hang tough, but we only need 3. There's Stupak himself. There’s Joseph Cao, (R-Louisiana) said he'd vote against it if it funded abortion, even if it cost him his seat.

So, who do you work for? The federal statists? And all of this is just OK for you as you plot your stupid graphs on the relative impact of federal employees. Plot the real GDP and the tax rates against these purty graphs.
These vast numbers of federal employees largely do NOTHING for the people who pay their salary. Countless continual bureaucracies of meddling short sleeve white collar REMFs (look it up) whose main task is to meddle in the private affairs of commerce and freedom. You have made a piss poor defense of “how government works”. Bubba- government DOESN’T work.. it takes and takes and takes. If tomorrow, we woke up and the Dept. of Education, HHS,Head Start, WIC, etc.. were all gone and all employees gone, we would immediately benefit. With a name like Democrat media, You must be some kind of DINO/RINO apparatchik with a federal job and a country club membership. How’s your 401K doing— is it mostly in T Bills. How’s the Prius doing?
It is NOT OK to have this much federal employment. The Soviet Union had everyone working for the “govt” and it produced absolutely nothing of any consequence except misery and the bulk of its resources on military defence that bankrupted it. RINOs are scared of ANY risk, personal or political. A waste of oxygen just being alive. Stop spamming. Go talk to Sen. Whitehouse, we call him Biff— he’s your kind of guy.
We are going to have to be ready to fight to the death to stop any amnesty because if that goes through - forget 2010 or 2012.
There is most assuredly something Republicans could have done. They could have walked out on the proceedings and bring the “precious” media to their jobs. “Goooohly, I wonder if there’s something going on in the real world?” The Democrats OWN this monstrosity of totalitarianism. We need to let the country know just who is screwing up their lives... you know, pull them away from the pizza and tv. No amount of whining from RINOs can defend their lacking a set of principles worth defending. RINOs are the “Von Papens” (look him up, he was a good german) of the democrat fascist takeover of the country.
IMO a contemporary American civil war would resemble Spain’s in the 1930’s. A divided military and National Guard, paramilitary organizations such as SWAT teams, deputized gangs - which I believe will be the genesis of Obama’s “civilian defense force”, ‘militias’ - and citizens volunteering or being conscripted into the maelstrom.
At an absolute minimum, ours will resemble Ireland or Lebanon.
Opposing sides will not be in kepis and carrying flags. Down, dirty and territorial savagery.
Obamais not central to any of this. He is merely the sales rep. I think he is an expendable in the hands of others with considerably more resolve and cunning than his unimpressive drift through the soft life indicates.
The real question is: when the repubs get the majority back, would they have the stones to repeal this crap if they had the votes or would they just let it ride like they do with everything else?
Can the Republicans just walk out today and go home for Christmas leaving the Dems to pass this corrupt and partisan bill without them?
They could do so, but that would make passage certain.
As long as they hang in there and fight, as they have been, all it takes is one of the Democrats to weary of being pounded in the butt by their machine. There are a couple I can think of who might plan this as a last minute “screw you back” gift to the arm twisters.
Midnight. On a Sunday. During taxpayers’ CHRISTMAS holidays. Voters conveniently otherwise occupied.
Pearl Harbor from the inside. Domestic enemies.
That’s what puzzles me the most. Why are they trying to appease him so? He’s not popular, he’s becoming politically radioactive...and yet the senators are kicking their constituencies in the teeth to obey him.
Imagine the dirt on them.
