Democrats controlled 60 votes and so there is not a thing Republicans could do to stop this. All democrat/Marxist Senators voted to pass this . Not a single Republican Senator voted to pass this bill but you blame Republicans for this socialist bill passing? That's the most ridiculous thing I 've ever heard. Republicans could have all walked out and still the Democrats/Marxists had the 60% of the votes in the Senate to pass this.It is called a filibuster proof Senate. It is democrat dictatorship. The liberal media puppet masters have made puppets out you "conservatives" that hate the GOP.

Furthermore, Republicans didn't spend like drunken sailors as liberals , the MSM , and "conservatives" who hate the GOP say. That is a liberal mainstream media lie and a Michael Savage lie.

As you can see from this graph. Government size decreased during the time the Republicans controlled Congress. The number of government employees per thousand population actually decreased during Bush's presidency and during the time that the Republicans controlled Congress. Of course the liberal mainstream media ran stories every day how the Republicans were increasing government size ("spending") by record amounts.And government educated "conservatives" who have no clue about anything including economics bought that lie every day and so got angry and turned against the GOP which was the liberal media's goal.

Any "spending increases" were for mandatory spending increases mandated by the government machine and agencies the Democrats built since the late 1800's starting with the government schools. Also wars cost money and inflation were the "spending increases".

Thank you for your excellent post and analysis. Unfortunately the volume and scope of the liberal media require great effort to overcome, even on an individual basis. Once again an illustration that the liberal politicians work in concert with the liberal media, creating, with Hollywood's help, whatever illusion is required to secure and maintain power.

Well your GOP had control at the time. And discretionary spending (not mandatory spending that you rant in defense about) went up some 30-35 percent. Biggest increase in some 30 plus years. That doesn’t include defense spending.

Was it your GOP leadership or the lying conservative GOP that pushed for Amnesty Bill? Same GOP that approved the 850 Billion Wall Street Bailout? Remember 33 of your GOP voted for that bill.

I know those lying conservatives you rant about voted NO. But the media must have lied about that too.

All the spending and lame compromises with their democratic colleagues is what got them ousted in 2006 and humiliated in 2008.

At first glance, looks like whomever designed the graph was trying to have it both ways. When you pick it apart you can see where the GOP increased spending while controlling congress.

Glad they awakened for a few years with the “Contract With America”. Course it must have been your GOP that was in control then because, as I pointed out, spending increased under their control in 98 and has continued since.

If the GOP takes control of congress in 2010, I hope it will be the conservative (you define as liars) GOP majority and not the current GOP that you seem so fond of.

I agree with this. I sometimes wonder why the Republicans even bother showing up to work. It seems like they can be serving their states better, but organizing townhalls and controlling public opinion, or simply educating people on this astrocity.

So, who do you work for? The federal statists? And all of this is just OK for you as you plot your stupid graphs on the relative impact of federal employees. Plot the real GDP and the tax rates against these purty graphs.

These vast numbers of federal employees largely do NOTHING for the people who pay their salary. Countless continual bureaucracies of meddling short sleeve white collar REMFs (look it up) whose main task is to meddle in the private affairs of commerce and freedom. You have made a piss poor defense of “how government works”. Bubba- government DOESN’T work.. it takes and takes and takes. If tomorrow, we woke up and the Dept. of Education, HHS,Head Start, WIC, etc.. were all gone and all employees gone, we would immediately benefit. With a name like Democrat media, You must be some kind of DINO/RINO apparatchik with a federal job and a country club membership. How’s your 401K doing— is it mostly in T Bills. It is NOT OK to have this much federal employment. The Soviet Union had everyone working for the “govt” and it produced absolutely nothing of any consequence except misery and the bulk of its resources on military defence that bankrupted it. There is most assuredly something Republicans could have done. They could have walked out on the proceedings and bring the “precious” media to their jobs. “Goooohly, I wonder if there’s something going on in the real world?” The Democrats OWN this monstrosity of totalitarianism. We need to let the country know just who is screwing up their lives... you know, pull them away from the pizza and tv. No amount of whining from RINOs can defend their lacking a set of principles worth defending.
