There is an old Kingston Trio song about Mary, Jesus, and the other children who would not play with him because he was just a “poor maid’s child” and they were the sons of the rich. “So he built them a bridge of the beams of the sun” and invited them to come play with him and all the other mother’s said, “Mary, call home your child” because they were afraid that their sons and daughters would get hurt crossing a bridge mad of sun beams.
It’s a beautiful song and it is on a wonderful album of odd Christmas songs (still available) called “The Last Month of the Year”. I think that all of the original artists have passed on now, but it has always been my favorite album.
