I looked everyone but didn't see this mentioned, so floating this out there hoping other, more influential people can help implement the following idea:
The Health-care bill will be going to conference where they must appease the House (Stupak & others) while maintaining all 60 votes in the Senate. So I think the key to stopping this at this point is lies with creating a division between the liberals. Why don't we call/write/e-mail/phone the Democrat Reps. to put more pressure on them.
Not necessairly to tell them the plan is bad (we have to assume they will just ignore these calls) but that you can't accept the Senate version of the "Cadillac tax" or you can go "lack of public option" or "no funding of abortions" etc. This may influence and make the Dems dig in and less likely to craft a final bill that will pass either chamber.
You can even ping pong (call your House rep. and say no "cadillac" but then call your Senator and say "no surtax on the wealthy"
For example: I can call my Democratic Rep. Carol Shea-Porter (ugh) and tell her to vote no and I can't support a tax on existing health care insurance policies. While I can also call Sen. Jeanne Shaheen and tell her I will not support and not vote for her in the future if their is an extra tax to on high income earners.
You may have to argue against what you believe in, but just like how many FReepers voted for Hillary to try and defeat Obama in the Democrat primaries, this may help us achieve our goal of stopping/killing Obamacare. Don't let the mainstream media tell you it is a done deal, we can still try to stop this thing!
Thoughts?
Obama is a Ponzi scheme operator. All you need to do is demand your “rights” under his program and the whole house of cards will come crashing down.
Well. I think you are correct. The Federal Government is nothing more than a Ponzi. The sooner it is busted the less pain. Unfortunatly you can not bust a Pozi that has a “Federal Reserve”. The Fed can print money out of thin air to cover the Ponzi. It will continue until all real assets are used up. We have a Government Gone Wild situation. They are Cannibalizing the private sector like a swarm of Locusts. There is no chance of saving the system The only question is when the collapse happens.
Yep. He's no better than the thugs on the street corner playing the shell game.
It’s gonna “work” EXACTLY how it was INTENDED to “work”.
You’re going to lose your freedom. You will have EVERY aspect of your life run by leftists in gov’t. Smoke? Sorry, no medical care for you. Christian? Ditto. Vote against leftist elitists? Ditto.
This is how it is intended to “work”, and it will.
They are going to vote for it because they are socialists. They believe in government control of health care services and wish to eliminate private insurance. Nothing you or I can say by way of phone call or email or fax or carrier pigeon will change their made-up minds.
Although - I admit that a pigeon would at least create the felicitous possibility of befouling their desks before flying off, thus approximating the effect of ObamaCare upon the public at large.
Instead, we must commit ourselves to doing everything we can to defeat these sticky-fingered pols at the polls. We must deprive them of the sources of their funding by exposing the (out-of-state) radical organizations and union pinky-ring plug-ugly boys that funnel cash to them. We also need to promise civil disobedience if necessary to stop the imposition of laws that plainly violate our Constitutional rights.
And finally, let's find some conservative candidates who don't sound like Caspar Milquetoast or Percy Dovetonsils when they speak: we need tough-minded, smart, and principled fighters, as opposed to the soft-handed and genteel sort the GOP usually gives us. We need ass-kickers; instead they often give us cookie-pushers.
There is a limit to how much money they can print. It’s called the Second Amendment.
Hey, whatever works!
