Rep. Parker Griffith to Switch Parties to Become Republican
FOX News ^ | 12/22/2009

Rep. Parker Griffith, a freshman Democrat from Alabama, is switching parties to become a Republican, Fox News has confirmed.

Griffith is expected to make a formal announcement in an afternoon press conference on Tuesday.

Griffith succeeded former Democratic Rep. Bud Cramer of Alabama, who retired earlier this year in a hard-fought contest for his northern Alabama seat.

Republicans thought that district would be hard for Democrats to hold without Cramer on the ballot, but Griffith defeated Republican Wayne Parker by four percentage points -- even though Republican presidential nominee John McCain won every county in the district.

Former President George W. Bush won the district by double

Screw him —he voted for Pelosi for Speaker

The only switcher that had any integrity was Phil Gramn

He RESIGNED and then ran in the next election as a Republican

“Switchers” like Parker Griffin are part of the reason for the weak response by the RNCC campaign principals in control and their RINO candidates. There will be number of “Blue Dogs” who will cross over. But the RNCEC people are blind to an assult on our system the likes of which we have never seen before, demonstrating the appearance of a lack of political leadership or conviction.

I don’t like that position because the RNC opaques the destruction of our constitutional system these socialists parading in democratic party garb are taking their sledgehammers to...

We (Republicans) don’t have that luxury....This is not politics as usual.

Very likely the RNCEC (Republican National Congressional Election Committee) will be pressuring the local party committeemen in that district not support or run a candidate against him in the primary.

What the RNCEC will be pointing out to those committeemen is that opposition to “switchers” will discourage other “Blue Dogs” from doing this and would be heavily played up by a compliant media. To discourage this from happening.

Enter the 3rd Party Option...AND ITS DANGERS
During the New Jersey gubnatorial election the democrats sponsored a 3rd party candidate to deflect votes from the Republican, and it almost worked.
In the New York 23rd, the local GOP organizations held no primazry, and a candidate from New York’s Conservative party defeated the “endorsed” Republican candidate who by the way “endosed” her democratic opponent. But not the democrat/socialist. Even though the combined votes of the “endorsed” Republican and Conservative party candidates were more than the Socialist. And that’s the problem and it must be considered.

What conservative groups forming political individual state political parties should consider is entering races where the winner must have a 50% plus 1 vote as the declared winner otherwise there is a runoff. And endorse or enter a Republican candidate in a primary. for seats in races where winner (get the most votes) takes all.

Now that the filibuster has been killed (THAT was what they needed the 60 votes for, and Webb “came through” for them), the dems only need 51 votes to pass the health care “reform” abomination.

Webb may very well vote against the bill, but ONLY if the dems have enough other votes to pass it. In fact, he better HOPE that the democrat “handlers” for whom he is a lap-dog will allow him to oppose it because voting FOR its actual passage may very well cost him his senate seat come 2012.

He MIGHT get away with this little political trick with SOME voters in Virginia, but I think (hope?) most people will remember that he was one of the people who enabled 1/6 of our economy to be turned over to the government.

It’s north central. Guntersville to Decatur/Hartselle.

He’s a moderate, copy of Bud Cramer, who was also a dem.

He may get a primary challenge, but I wouldn’t hold out much hope. Under the surface, Huntsville is a pretty liberal place. Conservative challenges in the past haven’t done well.

Yes, you’re right, of course.

And probably a bunch more will run for cover, too, giving the bill a 51-48 result.

That missing vote will be Byrd. You wonder why the vote was conducted in the middle of the night? Byrd is a veggie by now and somebody had to hold his hand to push the button.

S’my theory.

You might be correct.

I saw video of him being rolled into and then out of the senate chamber and he did NOT appear to be very lively at all. It’s entirely possible that whoever/whatever was in the wheelchair wasn’t even REALLY Mr. Byrd.

I mean, hey - I ain’t tryin’ to start no rumors or nuthin’ but I seen some of them, whadda-ya call ‘em, annimee-tronic dummies in department store wind-ers that moved more realistic-like than that feller did the other night. ;-)
