Actually the plane is broken in two—still attached, but between the wings and the tail, the fuselage is cracked open.

A minor runway overshoot would be when a plane can re-used. This plane is scrap.

You are right. That amount of damage qualifies as a major accident under the FARs.

I was thinking more of the number of severity of the injuries. They are rather minor, sort of a slow Saturday night in Chicago.
