That just brought a question to mind: legal historians: has there ever been a political assault/killing via some weapon where the defense was that it was an act of civil disobedience?

And before anyone asks or infers that I am calling for violence against politicians, NO, I am NOT. I prefer they be dragged from office, suits ripped from them, thrown into the streets, and Police informed some perv was hanging out near such-and-such a building.

I just wonder if such a defense were ever offered for murder of a political figure.

It would not be a successful defense. The point of civil disobedience is to knowingly break a law. You are admitting everything that the prosecution needs to establish: you broke the law, and you intended to do so.

Your only hope is to create a successful PR campaign around your case, and be acquitted by a jury that has some familiarity with jury nullification.
