Bitterwallet posted video of this infomercial-esque product called The Back-Up. It's a $40 shotgun rack that slides between your bed's box spring and mattress - easy access for when you need to blow an intruder's face apart.
According to The Back-Up's official website, research shows:
If a shotgun is in the corner of a room or under the bed, one must turn their back on a perpetrator to access it The BackUp allows for 2 second accessibility when in need. The Back-Up provides this from a lying position in bed. Just reach 8 inches along the side of the mattress, feel your gun as it is racked parallel to the floor. Simply raise the gun from the rack for use. The second amendment gives the right to Americans to bear arms.
Excellent points! Below, video of the commercial:

Good find.
Nice idea but I have kids. They find things that I hide in minutes. It’s amazing.
Very sexy item. I want one.
My shotgun is under the bed. Not recommended for homes with small children.
Hope your wife’s name isn’t Lorena.

After moving to Texas a few years back (from Cali), I remember being astonished by radio and tv ads for gun shows, gun stores, and the like.
It's like "a whole 'nother country" compared to California.
saw this one on tv last year around Christmas... great idea, but beware of children—alot of folks are saying, and for very good reason. Solution? keep the SG locked up during the day (at least out of reach of the kiddos) and on the rack at night when you go to bed. My Glocks are safely out of my 4-yr-old’s way during the day, but arm’s access by night. the rack is a quite nifty idea, but can be made DIY for far less than $40 or $50...
My wife and I just take turns staying on guard...3 hours on guard, 3 hours sleep. Works well.
Plus we don't have to worry about getting incinerated by a fire while sleeping, by the occasional arsonist.
You're good!
Which is why you should introduce them to "real guns" VERY early. My dad started with my brother and I at age 4. He would take us out with his pistol and we would "shoot" it with his hand over ours, and then he would tell us about "real guns are not toys". We had guns all over the house. Nary a problem....ever.
Keeping it a "secret" and trying to "hide" guns is the absolute WORST thing you can do. Take the mystery out of it and replace it with the reality.
