WASHINGTON, Dec. 23 (UPI) -- Freshman U.S. Rep. Parker Griffith, D-Ala., switched to the Republican party Tuesday and Democrats want their money back.

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee spent more than $1 million last year to help Griffith eke out a 51 percent victory in a north Alabama district that went for John McCain by 61 percent. Rep. Chris Van Hollen, D-Md., chairman of the DCCC, said that Griffith "has a duty and responsibility to return to Democratic members and the DCCC the financial resources that were invested in him."

Griffith, an oncologist, said the healthcare bill was the major reason for his switch.

So Rep. Parker Griffith has switched sides by defecting from the party of donkeys (DNC) to the party of elephants (GOP), citing his disagreement over the ObamaCare bill, all right.

The GOP would have to monitor Parker's activities closely, because he could be a 'double agent', sent to subvert the GOP from within and help give the DNC unlimited monopoly power.

Let me remind everyone the fact that both parties are simply two wings of the same bird.

I don’t think elected pols at any level should be allowed to do this. They are elected by one party, be it R or D or whatever. If they want to switch parties they should have to resign their seat and run in the next election under whatever party they want to be with.

“If they want to switch parties they should have to resign their seat and run in the next election under whatever party they want to be with.”

I agree. It’s too easy for people without political conviction to use this ploy of switching parties to bolster their reelection chances, which is precisely what Specter thought he was accomplishing.

Ok, at first I said “great another RINO”, maybe the guy has had a conversion experience. I did not realize he was an oncologist... I should have done more looking b4 jumping to conclusions. Hey, maybe he has heard the voice of the people. I would like to give him a chance, but only one! I know this year I put a lot of things aside to find myself a Libertarian.

No. Expose the RINO’s. Don’t let them achieve their goal of routing us, and forcing us to abandon the Republican ship. That ship is ours. The ship they want us to board is the ship of Political Oblivion heading into the ocean of ineffectual third parties. This is what they are trying to do, and you are suggesting we do as we are being told.

Thanks Scooby! I was really hoping that was true. (although these days, that’s not sayin much!) Guess running Dem was strategy. We will be watching him, closely.

Democrats want their money back...The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee spent more than $1 million last year to help Griffith ...Griffith "has a duty and responsibility to return to Democratic members and the DCCC the financial resources that were invested in him."

The RATs have no money, it's all extorted from the taxpayers in one way or another.

Parker Griffith has switched sides by defecting from the party of donkeys (DNC)

That's a Jackass...not a donkey. See historical newspaper references.

I find two things funny about this:

1) I found this story on FOX first. If it is on CNN's website, it's buried deep. Wonder why?.......

2) The Dems want "their" money back? Did they offer to refund Repub money when Specter switched? Such a whiney bunch of people the Dems are - like little children.
