Wow, I am almost the same age and the best president I can remember in my lifetime is the one who:

1. cut tax rates but then did NOT sign on to the largest tax increase in the history of the US to that time.

2. did not cut and run in the middle east when the Marines were attacked with a car bomb.

3. did not appoint an OConnor or even a Souter or Blackmon to the US Supreme Court.

4. did not sign an amnesty bill for illegal aliens.

But I guess is you definition of a great GOP president is raising taxes, cutting and running in the middle east, weak Supreme Court Justices and amnesty for illegal aliens, then you are right G.W. Bush was not your guy.

I'm with you. Bush did some really noble things. But in the end he expanded government with the DHS and there was no logical reason to. If the FBI or CIA supposedly failed us then why not nix one and call the DHS a replacement? Or better yet, why not just fix what was broken? Sounds like healthcare doesn't it?! Nope! Gotta be the big shot and leave a legacy. Sure congress has to approve of it, but why wouldn't they! LOL! Think man. Think. When's the last time they didn't? LOL! Never! It's the only time they are truly "bipartisian". If only he had never done this, then I would be on board with you. But alas, not only do we get to pay for everything that existed before Bush, now we get to pay for the DHS. But you'll never see that on a pay stub like we will healthcare.

I don't know about you but I have to travel through major airports at least once per month. I have been since well before 9/11. I can tell you that everytime I see granny getting a cavity search as I walk through barefoot and practically declothed just before I have to "turn to the left and cough" while the Husseins just walk on by, that we can thank the legacy of Bush for the home of the brave and land of the free.

And Nixon, well he's everywhere in our lives. He gave birth to Al Gorical. He'll never go away. And yes, we all pay for that too and neither can it be found on a pay stub... much less the COTUS.

I know hind sight is 20/20 but looking back I would have nuked Meca for 9/11... turned it into a giant glass parking lot. We shouldn't be over there. We need our troops back home... to secure the border and free the states! For our government has become both the forgein and domestic enemy.

And before everyone skewers me, I am not a Republican, Libertarian, nor Liberal. I could care less about such factions. I am American. Just like you. But I won't worship this central "bipartisian" government anymore. If I could just get Hussein in a headlock for one second I'd shove my thumb through his eye socket... and wiggle til the cows came home.
