US Approved Flight 253 Passenger List, Source Says [Abdul Listed in Counter-Terrorism Database!]

US Approved Flight 253 Passenger List, Source Says

Mark Hosenball

American security agencies reviewed the passenger list for Northwest Airlines flight 253 before it left Amsterdam for Detroit on Christmas day and informed the airline that the flight was cleared to take off for the U.S., a Dutch government spokeswoman tells NEWSWEEK.

Judith Sluyter, spokeswoman for the NCTB, the office of Holland's national counter-terrorism coordinator, said that before Flight 253 left Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport, the passenger list was transmitted in full to U.S. authorities for review. Under procedures negotiated between the United States and various foreign countries, U.S. agencies -- particularly an interagency "Terrorist Screening Center" run by the FBI with input from others including the Homeland Security Department and the intelligence community -- are supposed to run the names through American counter-terrorism databases to see if any would-be passengers present potential threat.

In the case of Flight 253, U.S. authorities informed the airline before the flight took off that the passenger list did not reveal any threats which would prevent the plane from taking off, according to Sluyter, and so the flight left Amsterdam for Detroit. A 23-year-old Nigerian man, identified in news reports as Abdul Mudallad, was arrested by U.S. authorities when the plane landed at Detroit after passengers reported that he tried to set off some kind of explosive device as the plane was making its descent.

Rep. Peter King, top Republican on the House Homeland Security Committee, has said in media interviews that Mudallad's name was listed in U.S. counter-terrorism databases, but was not specifically listed on an official U.S. government "no fly list" which the government uses to completely ban passengers from flying into the United States.

The US government is more afraid of offending Muslims than its concerned with protecting Americans. If I was a jihadist, I'd shout "Allah Akbar!" The Americans make it easy to carry out jihad on their soil. After Ft. Hood, you'd think we would learned something.

As in - apparently not at all.

You know those appointees of the Obama Administration changed procedures in order to appease their left leanings.

When will they be exposed for putting this country at risk?

No doubt this was done under the previous Administration. That makes it "Bush's Fault"!

Probably let him go on the plane anyway because he was a donor to the DNC.

Shouldn't have mattered anyway if reports he had no passport turn out to be accurate. This episode is about as epic a failure as possible. We are going to hear a lot more about this incident. A lot of people are going to wish it would just go away before it's over. The failures are so blatant and at such critical levels that it's going to blow up in someone’s face.

Exactly. If he boarded the plan without a passport with the help of an Indian handler, then his name would not have appeared on the manifest for this flight. His collaborators would have booked him under the name of someone who wasn’t on the no-fly list. He probably used his own name to fly to Amsterdam and once in the airport, his handlers booked him on the connecting flight using another name and birthdate.

He's in a terrorism base list but not on a no fly list. That sure makes a lot of sense.

Looks like someone avoided doing a little extra work.

Report from Detroit passenger was that the bomber boarded the flight without a passport. So his ticket was issued under someone else’s name.

We the people should have full access to the terror watch list. We are the first line of defense against the enemy within our borders.

The FBI again. Obama must have issued changes since the last administration and Obama must have altered the security protocols for civil rights reasons, terrorists civil rights. The FBI knew about both Hasan and now Mutalla. Obama hates the USA.
