Napolitano: No indication of wider plot in botched airline attack (Al Qaeda no longer exists alert)
CNN (Chicken Noodle News) ^ | December 27,2009

Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano said Sunday there was no indication so far that a botched terror attack on a U.S. airliner was part of a broad international effort.

"Right now we have no indication that it is part of anything larger," Napolitano told CNN's "State of the Union" program.

A lone suspect allegedly tried to ignite an explosive device on a Northwest Airlines flight from Amsterdam, The Netherlands to Detroit, Michigan on Christmas Day.

The device apparently failed to detonate and the suspect was subdued.

Napolitano said the suspect, Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, was on a broad security watch list that contains "half a million" names and is shared with airlines and foreign security agencies. However, a lack of specific evidence prevented him from being classified as a greater security risk that would bar him from travel to the United States, she said.

"You need information that is specific and credible if you're going to bar people from air travel," Napolitano said.

It's like these people are trying to get people killed.

You just now figuring that out? These people ARE trying to get us killed. Bozo needs a major crisis to gain back people's support. He somehow thinks if he neglects security and allows a few hundred(maybe a few thousand)people to die he can become the big hero saving the country.

He hasn't a clue that his attitude after the fact on these attacks(Ft. Hood etc.)are making people see him as the cause of these attacks. If a big one actually occurs, his ratings will really fall through the floor.

The simple law of physics will soon be applied to all liberals and progressives. The funniest thing to see is when it dawns upon them this is one law they cannot repeal.

Napolitano: No indication of wider plot in botched airline attack (Al Qaeda no longer exists alert)

These Obama people could be world class comedians if their idiocy and dishonesty didn't endanger large numbers of people. They change the parameters for what is and isn't a terrorist attack with each terrorist attack. Very recently, it was "no ties to terrorist organizations", but that one doesn't work this time.

But using this new, greatly expanded criteria - no indication of a wider plot - the same can be said about 9/11. There was no indication on 9/11/2009 that those terrorists intended to do any more than take down the WTC towers, the Pentagon and some other major Washington buildings. Beyond that, there was no evidence of a wider plot that day. Nothing to worry about.

...within an hour to 90 minutes, all 128 flights in the air had been notified.

Wow! She thinks that having notified all aircraft in the air within one and a half hours is an indicator of success. If it were a coordinated attack, then the evil scum would have simultaneously ignited their bombs. Within 90 minutes, probably half the aircraft in the air would have landed.

And what's with this "128 flights"? There are roughly 5,000 IFR aircraft in the air over the US at any given time.

So tell us, then, how the perp got ahold of PETN, Janet.

She is claiming that the system worked, but what system is she talking about? Certainly not security.

Janet Napolitano Bonaparte

Reminds me more of the oft-reproduced photo of an ambitious journalist
known as “Il Duce” (Mussolini).

This woman is going to need permanent back care under NObamacare.

She manages at this time to motor around with her head buried in the sand.
Some feat.
