BOTH converted to the ranks of the pro-life cause.

Reagan was NEVER pro-choice. Quit spreading that falsehood.

I am big fan of of RR. BOTH converted to the ranks of the pro-life cause.

To convert, Ronald Reagan would have had to have been pro abortion at one time, Reagan was not proabortion but you seem determined to sell that to defend Romney.

OK then, why did he sign the Therapeutic Abortion Act as governor of California?

I would also like to remind that for MANY decades RR was a liberal Democrat and a union leader who voted for FDR FOUR times. His conversion to conservatism and the Republican Party came about rather late in life. But I LOVE converts and always welcome them. When we have catechumens brought into our Church every Easter, I welcome them in with loud applause and open arms.

You are claiming that Ronald Reagan was proabortion and later converted to being prolife.

Show us the Reagan writings and speeches that show him being proabortion, show us those writings etc.

Does anybody happen to know what religion is Meg Whitman and her family? Do they attend church? Or do they go to a Mormon Temple somewhere? There is an early Mormon family with the surname of Whitman, who for (at least) a couple generations named a daughter Margaret Whitman. Is Meg Whitman descended from these Whitmans? Is Meg Whitman a mormon? Did she grow up in a mormon family?

Curious.

Unflattering picture of Whitman emerging from trail

"...Described in testimony as someone with an 'evil' side who could be a 'monster' to those who foiled her, Whitman is at risk of losing control of the carefully crafted powerhouse image that she has parlayed into a huge lead in the GOP primary race, political observers said."

What does that have to do with the fact that Reagan was never pro-choice? You need to back up your assertion with cites or retract it.

Don’t be an insulting little @#%&@%&. I get it, you don’t like the guy. Neither do I, but for different reasons. I can’t stand his stick a finger in the air and speak whatever the wind says mentality.

How could you ever like and defend Reagan after signing that legislation is beyond me. So he was never pro-abortion....tell it to the murdered kids.

Have a little consistency.

I don’t have any speeches or writings I can show you. But we do have his signature on the Therepeutic Abortion Act he signed into law 1967, something no pro-life governor would have ever signed. And legislation is far more important than speeches and writings. I love RR, and I am glad he eventually changed sides on the issue and became pro-life. He was, by far, the greatest president of my lifetime.

We all know that Reagan was a democrat a couple of generations ago and did not formally change his registration until 1962, I count that as pre Vietnam, pre 1960s chaos, etc.

What does that that have to do with Mitt Romney converting from republican to Independent in protest against President Reagan in the 1980s? Why was Romney only giving money to and doing fund raising for democrats during the 1990s after leaving the republican party?

In your desperation to attack Reagan, and promote Romney, you pretend that you can’t see a difference between the historical periods and political climates that are separated by almost a half century.

The bill was misrepresented to him, he was told it would reduce the number of abortions because of other actions tied to it.

Read his autobiography. At best, at that time, Reagan was some what ambivalent and had not really developed a position on Abortion. This is far from the Romney lies or Reagan be “adamantly pro-choice”.

I have cited the legislation he signed many times.

That was not pro-choice legislation - it was meant only for the health of the mother.

Now, please show us ANY statement by Reagan supporting a pro-choice position, as opposed to Romney's blatant pro-choice statements in 1994 and 2002.

So you insist on lying, I remember that bill and the Governor signing it, now show us the writings and speeches that reveal that Reagan was Pro abortion?

The reality is that Reagan was never proabortion.

Why do you say I attack Reagan? I worked my heart out for this man in 1976, 1980, and 1984. I LOVE RR. What are you talking about? I became a movement conservative when he ran against Jerry Ford in 1976. But I do know RR was not 100% pure perfection. He did sign a law which dramatically liberalized abortions in California and he did sign some tax increses as well as governor. That is historical fact. No politician is 100% perfect. Even my hero in the senate, Jesse Helms, support agricultural subsidies.

Are you going to make me post the article from Wikipedia again? “...two million abortions would be performed as a result mostly because of a provision in the bill allowing abortions for the well being of the mother.”

No, RR didn’t go around the country making speeches in favor abortion. I agree with you there. But he did sign the most liberalized abortion legislation in California’s history up to that point.

While most thirteen year old kids in 1976 were playing baseball, riding dirt bikes, hiking, camping, scouting, fishing, surfing, etc. I was volunteering for RR. I love the guy. But he was not JC. He did sin occaisionally.
