Dogs would be fine. And you are correct, dogs are considered "unclean" (as opposed of course to wiping your a** with your left hand as you eat with your right) by muslims. But I'd suggest they use trained hogs. If they can find truffles in a forest they should certainly be able to sniff out most any kind of explosive compound.

The bonus, once some photos of porkers snuffling around the tender bits under a few burqas and dishdashas make the internet, would be a muslim free airspace practically overnight. Only exceptions: All passengers boarding El Al flights (they have perfected the art of profiling and don't need our help) and however many kosher charters our Orthodox Jewish friends might like to organize.
