Mr Shaikh is due to be executed in Urumqi at 10.30am Tuesday morning local time for heroin smuggling. "We're here to plead for clemency and we hope the Chinese government shows compassion. His life is in their hands now," said his cousin Soohail Shaikh on Monday night in Beijing. He and his brother Nasir arrived in the Chinese capital from Urumqi in the far west of China, where Mr Shaikh is being held.

It’s not just the penalty, though. Knowing the way the Chinese prosecute crimes, he didn’t exactly receive a fair trial, either. Yes, the man appears to have been clearly guilty in this case, but that shouldn’t be relevant to what type of trial he should get.
Their criminal law enforcement system is certainly not something I’d care to import to the United States, no matter how effective it might be at combating crime.
“Shaikh first learned his death sentence would be carried out from his visiting cousins on Monday, who made a last-minute plea for his life. They say he was mentally unstable and was lured to China from a life on the street in Poland by men playing on his dreams to record a pop song for world peace.”
WTH? A pop song for world peace? Is this a joke? LOL

I remember the case in Singapore when that kid was caught vandalizing a wall with spraypaint. Become the cause du jour and the police in Singapore said “we don’t have the problems you US people do with your criminals” or some suhc thing.
Don’t commit crimes in these countries and treat them as your personal playground.
“The family provided no documentation proving mental illness or a family history of such either.”
That’s the stuff that usually makes the difference. If they ahd had that they would likely have simply banned him from the country. But they didn’t. Notice how people are usually perfectly sane until facing the rope/electric chair/gas chamber, etc. and then they either start hearing voices/seeing underpants gnomes or enact their oscar award winning “I found Jesus” role.
I agree, but much of Asia has the same penalty. Singapore does, and their justice system is based on English common law, as is ours.
Look what a lack of corporal punishment has done to our public screwel system...

Thank you! You hit the nail on the head. With corporal punishment we would eliminate half the court cases clogging the system and standardize punishments.
Well, I’m shocked!
Organ donation....lethal injection stops the heart butthen you can quickly harvest the organs and keep them preserved.
These threads are a honeypot for the statists residing here.
I hope they post it on youtube. let the american drugies see it.
One piece at a time, would be my guess.
