I actually have a .22 pistol, 2 .22 rifles, a .45, a .357 magnum, a .270, a.243, a 12 gauge and a 410 gauge. And lots of ammo. And I reload.

I have a different problem. I take a number of medications. The most they let me buy is 3 months worth. Without those meds I will not survive over 3 days.

So, I have accepted the fact that I will be wormfood in short order.

Trying to “protect” or fortify your home is foolish...

Get out...Get hidden...get teamed up...

This is the old debate of bugging out vs. defending in place. Two quick points:

First, if a person's residence is defensible, I think he should prepare for BOTH. It is best to prepare for both so that both options remain available.

Second, the decision on whether to bug out is situational. In a low threat situation, defending in place may be preferable. In a high threat situation, bugging out may be the only viable option.

LOL

I guess the Hat Tip to CQ magazine was a bit vague. Years ago they had a column from "Scratchi" who lived in Feenix. I guess I am just too old to use old jokes.

Well, I taake it you might still have the means to stand your ground anyway...wink wink, nod nod...

Thats a pretty good prep plan you’ve implemented...

But all that electical equipment??? What happens when you lose power??? I think I know what you may have setup in that instance, so no need to make it public...wink wink, nod nod...

Way ahead of you. I know that in times of stress people can lose their groove, so I formed a peace committee with my neighbors to keep the bad vibes at bay, in case our inner city brothers and sisters that might pass through our neighborhood forgot how important it is to respect other's personal space. Usually some gentle music and warm smiles can make travelers feel better as they pass you on their journey.

you are correct sir..I used to have a little 22LR beretta that was like the ones the Israelis used to carry as sky marshals. I think they called it the cheetah or something like that.

Wish I had it back.

Im gonna start reloading 38 specials soon because we all have either a snubby or a K-frame revolver along with my dad’s 1911s and my Glock 19 and Walther P-99.

The 38 is SOO versatile for self defense and practice.

the 22 beretta I had the size was the same size as my old walther PPK. In fact, it fit the same holster.

It was a single action though, with a button safety..if I remember correctly,

And the mosquito IS nice. Ive already got a nice Ruger MK1 target pistol though that is very accurate.

“I was hoping your post was satire. Whew! For awhile I thought you were from the 9th Ward of New Orleans and voted for Obama.

Unfortunately I suspect there are people out there who think the government will provide everything for them and will do nothing but sit on the porch and wait for a check.”

If you have ever seen south Florida after a hurricane you know there are tons of them. Tons of people to stupid or to lazy to even stock up on bottled water ... even after a week of warnings to do so. The hoards of stupids will stand in lines that are miles long carrying their babies to get a free 12 pack of water and a bag of ice and some MRE’s .

Just another example as to why people who live in urban areas are screwed. If the government don’t provide, the entitlement mentality will send mobs out to take from others what they feel are entitled to have shared.

Well placed bullets will certainly ease their suffering.

LOL

That’s one way to do it.

I cheated a bit. I remembered when the intro to The Survival Mom thread came.

LOL. Just got around to reading this thread.

There is something else I have been thinking about. Even if the “GOV” has supplies to rush into a city, there is no distribution system to efficiently handle it. Stores, bank machines, water, sewage and gas stations keep urban areas running. Any interruption of these will turn high density areas medieval in no time. Those that take to the road will find even more horrors. They will be refugees.

Luckily I live in a rural area and have been prepping for almost ten years. I have read Ferfal's blog and made security adjustments accordingly. Here is something to have on hand. I call it the poor man's claymore. Just something the average preppers should seriously consider if they want to sleep at night.

A very good prepper site is Survivalblog. After years of prepping, Survivalblog has helped to fill in gaps in our efforts.

A harmless, fire country safe, trip wire device that I like, is one that snaps a super bright, 5 minute, chem stick, called the “cyalume surface trip flare”.
