Virginia does not recognize same sex civil unions or same sex marriages by its own laws or by state constitutional amendment, and yet, so far they are rolling over and not standing up for their own constitutional laws.

I haven’t been able to determine whether the lesbian adopted the child. If she did, her rights are as valid as the birth mother (barring any abuse).

Should be a note to anyone who marries or partners up with someone who is not the biological parent of your child—be very very careful about letting the step parent adopt. You are giving up the complete freedom to choose the proper future for your child.
