Studies I've read say only one in three pirates ever get paid for their 'work' and that only 3 in 5 ever survive their pirate voyage.

Now, if we could only get a 'community organizer' from some outfit like ACORN or SESIU to set up a Piratanical Union which could forcefully represent these poor buggers when they are negotiating with both overbearingly bloodthirsty management and the unrealistic expectations of the shipping industry. Maybe these poor brown devils (working men & women) could afford something stronger and gentler than 'kaat' to chew in the morning to start his drug fueled day? How can these working families expect ol' Dink the Sailor to survive travel inside such unsafe and underpowered work vehicles.

I saw the History Channel's " Inside the Hijacking of the Alabama Maersk Line containership the other night, I was shocked and appalled at the working conditions these poor angry mooselimbs suffer under! Small wonder they cling to their barbaric 8th century Comic Book koran and their AK-47's.

Can't we all just get along, Rodney? Rodney? This here is MSNBC, now don't you start nodding off on me now Brother! President Ozama's in the White House, I shit you not nigger! I said a very crazy pale skinned Brother is the President of the United States. You got to stop smoking that settlement money up in crack Rodney! Come On Man!, like Howie, Sterling and Rev. Deon Says get your ass in the union if you want any respect. Either that or get a census job!

My understanding is that in almost all cases in int’l shipping a contract stipulations of insurance companies is that vessels used must be devoid of firearms, and that most ports go nuts if they learn they are host to uninsured vessles...

Crazy huh? My instinct would be that instead they would give a BREAK to vessels that could certify that they had trained personnel with reliable weapons aboard.

But that’s not the case.

The one ship that was hijacked is carrying a load of Florida phosphate fertilizer.
