Court Rejects City Law protecting Janitors (PA Supreme Court smacks down SEIU)
Pittsburgh Post Gazette ^ | December 30, 2009 | Paula Reed Ward

A Pittsburgh ordinance designed to protect janitors from losing their jobs in Downtown office buildings violates Home Rule law. [snip] City Council enacted an ordinance in 2004 governing building complexes with more than 100,000 square feet of floor space. If the owner switches security, janitorial, maintenance, stationary engineering or window-washing contractors, the new firm has to hire the old firm's workers.

Pittsburgh City Council passed this law at the behest of the SEIU, when a building owner switched janitorial contracts after the prior firm had been organized. Article goes on to detail some whining by SEIU officials and the lone dissenting judge about how heartless this ruling is during a recession. (apparently bad, unconstitutional law is OK when people are hurting..) Lilke most urban city councils, Pittsburgh's is overflowing with fringe liberal activists.

Am looking for pics/list of the crooks who were in power in 2004, when this utterly ignorant law was passed. If anyone in PA can find the info, please do...

It APPEARS as though this councilperson has only been there for one term, and "Payne was removed last month as chair of the city's Democratic Party Committee..." for her role in messing with the Liberal Machine. She says she is trying for state office later this year.

running your link thru the Wayback Machine, looks like the other culprits at the time would have been:

- Luke Ravenstahl (the current Boy Mayor)
- Alan Hertzberg (long-standing ties to ties to the liberal
activist legal community)
- Gene Ricciardi
- Sala Udin (sought a state pardon in 2006 for a long list
of violent crimes dating back to the 1960’s)
- Len Bodack
- Twanda Carlisle (served sentence and curretly on parole
for theft by deception and misappropriating city funds)

and of cource Bill Peduto who would fit in very nicely with the City Councils in San Francisco or Berkeley.

I hate using it as a primary source, but according to Wikipedia, this guy has been there since 2001.

As an aside, this liberal really likes to toot his own horn!

Methinks he'll be sick of Pittsburgh soon and lookin' for a national office. It'd be nice to see him run and get defeated...go back to "political consulting"...he calls himself a "reform Democrat", which means he is a liberal who uses modern words.

I will repeat:

SEIU is the most dangerous ‘Union” this country has ever spawned.
