Does anyone know if this Association receives any funding from the Catholic Church or Catholic Charities?

A telling phrase here — ‘CHA stands to make a healthy profit from this bill.’ tsk tsk.

I don’t know but the Bishops in the various Diocese allow them to be designated as a Catholic Institution.

Can the Bishops remove the Catholic Designation?

CHA operates as a voluntary association of Catholic Hospitals groups and serves as a managerial and spiritual “think tank”, if you will, for member facilities.

I believe their funding is by assessment of their member hospitals, thus the Church and Charities indirectly fund them. I am not sure if there is direct funding.

The decision to back the compromise is an exercise in moral relativism. The old evil of abortion versus what they perceive to be the common good for their members and patients.

Please remember that Catholic Hospitals are run like any other hospital business.Even though they are profit in name, they still must make a profit to stay in business. However, through the charities and spirituality, they are able and do make available a great amount of free care.

It would be uplifting though to see them take an absolute moral stand against the murder of innocents.
