The scriptures refer to reaping the whirlwind. That certainly describes Nebraska Senator Ben Nelson after the first state-wide poll since the controversial deal he cut in exchange for his deciding vote on the Senate health care bill.
A new Rasmussen Reports poll shows that if he were running for re-election today, Mr. Nelson would lose to Nebraska's GOP Governor David Heineman by a stunning 61% to 30%. Only three years ago, Mr. Nelson won his current term with a solid 64% of the vote.
Clearly, the senator's fall in public esteem is a direct reaction to his having voted for the health care bill as part of a deal in which Nebraska was exempted from the costs of new federal Medicaid mandates. The ObamaCare bill was already unpopular enough in Nebraska but became even more so when state residents discovered they would be saddled with it anyway, plus exposed to national ridicule over Mr. Nelson's sweetheart deal. Now 53% strongly oppose the bill, while another 11% somewhat oppose it. Only 17% favor the deal that Mr. Nelson struck in order to vote for the bill.
But the poll also shows a path to redemption. Asked how they would vote in the 2012 election if Senator Nelson changed his vote and prevented the health care bill from becoming law, Nebraska voters give Governor Heineman a lead of only 47% to 37%.

Treatment-- One Thomas Sowell article a day and a healthy dose of reality.
ObamaCide.
I hope Nelson suffers a humiliating defeat and gets to sit on the sidelines as the Obamacidal bill gets reversed.
Let’s make sure that word gains traction.
Heh. It may even become common like Borked.
Maybe Dr. Phil could man the Obamacide hotline.
Nelson and the rest figure that amnesty will create more than enough new voters to counteract the current voter anger. I would not be shocked to learn that the REAL reason none of these dems seem concerned or to care about reelection is because Obama has shown them the plan whereby ACORN and amnesty create the perfect storm.

LOL!!!
I would rather he reverse his vote on the bill, being the lone Dem who votes against it and kills it, then gets re-elected in a landslide in 2012. All in all I think it would be a better outcome.
Nebraska Democrats are facing extinction all as a result of Sen. Nelson’s sellout. If they had any sense they would force him to resign even though that would mean the state’s Republican governor would appoint someone, likely a Republican, to fill his seat until 2012. Keeping Nelson as Senator will mean disaster for Democrats both for House seats and state offices in 2010.
I like how Rasmussen put in there if he changed his vote and killed Obamacare. The window is still open Nelson. My guess is the DNC has so much dirt on Nelson.

Nope, cloture was the vote. He can reverse his vote now and it will still pass. He already did the dirty deed by voting for cloture, voting against the final bill is just attempted CYA and pure hypocrisy.
Secondary meaning: (also verb) when a liberal takes bribe money or favors in order to enrich himself or his constituency in return for votes or returned favors contrary to the wishes of his constituency.
Third meaning: (also verb) when a liberal promises his constituency one thing and has no ethics or scruples to actually intend to fulfil his promise to them, instead believing the needs of his political party are greater than the needs of his nation financially, patriotically and morally.
One billion dollars is not cheap.
If the bill goes to conference doesn’t the whole process of debate in the Senate repeat?
Looks like Nelson, the mental and physical midget, has not grown into the job.
If it significantly changes, yes, then he will have an opportunity to deny cloture. At that point it would take more courage to vote against cloture than the first time around, and he could salvage some self respect.
Good name.
