I understand.
I also know that he probably uses the study, which is to his left. Many presidents have done a lot of their work in that study.
I get the contrast in the photos, and I agree with you. But, I think the message he is attempting to send with these photos is that he is not furiously at work, that he is a cool customer who handles everything smoothly and easily. Nothing ruffles his feathers, not even a crashing economy. He wants people to think he is totally in control.
Most of the unthinking classes that voted for him will not see what you or I can see in these photos... you know, those that voted for him.

I suppose we should look at the bright side.
If Bill Clinton were still in office, she would be bleaching that rug...

"What is the painting on the right above the Remington statuette?"
It's either the arm of the Statue of Liberty, or a page from a fisting how-to pamphlet.
Definitely the pamphlet, then.

The more you consider it, you have to wonder, just who is he sending a message to

LOL. The Office of the Presidency is clearly above his pay grade. That picture screams that out! He looks like a kid visiting dad’s workplace playing office.

Yeah, she works more than he does...

The more you consider it, you have to wonder, just who is he sending a message to Interesting question. The message I take away is that the office is empty. Why does the WH feel the need to convey that message and to whom is he sending it? Strange picture to put out in light of everything that's happened over the past couple of days.

Oh, so that's what AF-1 was taking pictures of while flying low over Manhattan?

The Presidental Seal on the rug, the Eagle is facing away from the arrows? I thought when at war Eagle faces to the arrows. Obama must think we are not at war. Thats awfully petty. I think the carpet is the same one that was there when Bush had it

I don’t know - from the angle of the arm and torch AF-1 had to be awfully low or a strong telephoto lens used ... I think it was just a photoshoot of AF-1 itself (the NYC flyover) .....

Yes I may be petty. Although the only reason I even know about the Eagle was an interview of Laura Bush in the Oval office talking about that subject.

That’s one cold looking room. Obama doesn’t know what to do with it. I’m not sure the guy knows who he is or what he stands for.

someone posted today they are all after Obama now.
When Maureen Dowd goes after Obama, he is done, poke a stick in him.
http://www.nytimes.com/2009/12/30/opinion/30dowd.html
Before he left for vacation, Obama tried to shed his Spock mien and juice up the empathy quotient on jobs. But in his usual inspiring/listless cycle, he once more appeared chilly in his response to the chilling episode on Flight 253, issuing bulletins through his press secretary and hitting the links. At least you have to seem concerned.
