NORTH RICHLAND HILLS – Authorities tell News 8 a suspicious device found in a North Texas neighborhood did contain explosives.

It was found near a copy of the Koran. Investigators don’t know whether they were left by the same person.

A resident found what appeared to be a coke can on the street just before noon Thursday. What he saw inside, however, caused him to call 9-1-1.

“It’s some type of metal in a coke can,” said Sean Hughes, Northeast Explosives Response Team. Firefighters at the scene called in the Northeast Explosives Response Team.

“They zip tied the can in case it was a grenade type of device with a trigger, and they secured the can, and then they picked it up and put it in the trailer.” Hughes said.

IF there is a connection between the explosive and the Koran, I say they were placed there by a mooslim so that they could say they are being picked on.

Perhaps because when they picked it up, they were startled that it seemed to weigh alot for an empty can of soda.

It's really disgusting, as anyone could have picked it -- someone wanting to dispose of litter, a child noticing an out of place pop can, or some homeless soul collecting aluminum to sell at the recyclers.

Lots of reasons to pick one up — picking up unsightly litter, collecting cans that can be redeemed for the deposit refund, or just picking up a recyclable can to put it in a recycling bin.

Once you’ve picked up what appeared to be an empty can, and it feels a lot heavier than an empty can but the weight isn’t sloshing around like liquid, you’d look inside to see what the heck is making the can weigh so much.

Something about this stinks to high heaven.

I used to collect them now and then. Probably will again in this economy. Never really walked up the street doing it though.

We moved from North Richland Hills a couple of years ago to Arlington. It's a nice Fort Worth suburb but has had a lot of turnover recently with a lot of whites moving out.

This could be a prank, with a Koran thrown in to confuse things and get someone their 15 minutes of fame, but with a bomb scare in Dallas last month and a grenade launcher found in Houston last week--not to mention the terrible tragedy in Fort Hood--I am getting more nervous that a lot small Muslim cells are being given a go-ahead to stir things up, even here in Texas of all places.

With the same Imam giving orders to the Fort Hood shooter and the Nigerian underpants bomber, I think Obama is finally realizing that we're about to start calling him "Hussein" if he cannot or will not get on top of the Terrorist War that's was declared on us eight years ago.
