Fox, Time Warner negotiations go beyond midnight deadline (3 hour extension)

Negotiations between Fox and Time Warner Cable continued beyond a midnight deadline.

The two television giants were negotiating over fees in Los Angeles. They had agreed to a three-hour extension beyond the deadline, Fox-owned WOFL-Channel 35 announced shortly before midnight.

Time Warner represents programming partner Bright House Networks, which serves 850,000 subscribers in Central Florida.

The three-hour extension means the Fox signal will stay on Bright House at least until 3 a.m. With no deal, Fox could go dark on Bright House as the new year begins. Fox later today will present the Sugar Bowl between Cincinnati and the University of Florida. For the last time, Tim Tebow will play as the Gators’ quarterback in the game.

A plea came from Julius Genachowski, chairman of the Federal Communications Commission. He urged Fox and Time Warner Cable to agree to a temporary extension so customers’ service wouldn’t be disrupted.

I think Metrocast buys its feeds from TWC.

All FOX channels are on DIRECTV plus NFL Channel.
I dropped TW 20 years ago and have never been happier.

I had DirecTV for 6 years, but combined with cable internet, the cost is $30 more per month.

I think FOX has a point. They should be paid, but unfortunately the only network channel that is worth watching is FOX and if it goes dark, I hope they put the feed on the Internet. Fringe, Bones, 24, House........etc.

If Time Warner cuts some of Fox's commercials and plays it's own, then Fox is due money IMO.
If Fox has THEIR sponsor's commercials being carried by Time Warner, then their is no issue, because all Time Warner would be doing is increasing the sponsor's coverage.

Either Fox or Time Warner are full of cr@p.
The people being passed on more costs of cable would be also cr@p.

I don't know of Time Warner playing their own commercials over Fox's on cable. Does that happen? If not Fox is the one full of cr@p here.

I’m in Cali so Fox hasn’t been removed yet. If they do remove it, for sure we are gonna switch(No more Laker games, thats the last straw) but can’t decide between Directv and Dish..both look good and both come out being the same price, they just have different channels

HTime Warner in TX may lose Fox, that means no Spurs games on Fox Sports Network Southwest, and there will be lots of people switching from Time Warner. If it means no Jack Bauer on “24”, then I guess nobody will keep Time Warner.

FNC will not be removed. They have nothing to do with it. Keep us posted since your on the east coast. So far only New Hampshire has had Fox blacked out

I was hoping to get FIOS here, but Verizon sold northern New England to FairPoint Communications and they are bankrupt. They won’t be installing any fiber optics in the foreseeable future.

To get Internet, I have to buy budget basic cable. The net, along with the BB cable is $75 a month. Add DirecTV HD and my cost is pretty high. I’ll watch 24 on the net.

Yup a few bucks more but I have never had an outage plus they have provided fine service when they went to HD.

See that’s the biggest problem.

If people could pick and choose their own channels so many of these useless channels I never watch would indeed go bankrupt.

I’d take... 4 major networks (Sports alone necessitates it.), ESPN, ESPN 2, Fox Sports Pittsburgh, FNC, History, TBS, TNT, USA, Sci Fi, Cartoon Network, Versus, Military Channel and BBC America, TV Land, Food Network are maybes. That’s all I’d really want.

The rest of the 100+ channels I get could disappear for all I care. I don’t need Lifetime, BET, MSNBC, CNBC, E!, CNN, Headline News, Disney, Nickelodeon, MTV/VH! or anything home shopping.

No impact here yet in WNY, but we’ll see....

I could care less if they re-sign for FOX En Espanol — just give me more free clear QAM (HD) channels.
