U.S. security chiefs briefed President Barack Obama on Thursday about missteps in the lead-up to the attempted Detroit jetliner bombing as lawmakers joined the White House in racing to find out what went wrong.
The Senate Intelligence Committee announced Jan. 21 hearings as part of an investigation to begin sooner. "We will be following the intelligence down the rabbit hole to see where the breakdown occurred and how to prevent this failure in the future," said Sen. Kit Bond, top Republican on the committee. "Somebody screwed up big time."
Few questioned that judgment, even if Obama's fellow Democrats rendered it in more measured tones. Vacationing in Hawaii, Obama received an preliminary assessment ahead of meetings he will hold in Washington next week on fixing the failures of America's anti-terrorism policy. Administration officials said the system to protect the skies from terrorists was deeply flawed and, even then, the government failed to follow its own directives.
Obama spoke separately with counterterrorism adviser John Brennan and Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano, who announced she was dispatching senior department officials to international airports to review their security procedures.
Despite billions of dollars spent to sharpen America's eye on dangerous malcontents abroad and at home, the creation of an intelligence-information overseer and countless declarations of intentions to cooperate, it was already clear that America's national security fiefdoms were still not operating in harmony before the attempted bombing Dec. 25.

Divided loyalties, its all about divided loyalties.
America would not accept that he was a Muslim when he was being elected, and they still cannot understand what a Muslim is inherently loyal to.
Compare the above phrase to one made by a 98yoa WW2 vet who said he was amazed that the US won WW2 due to the inter-service rivalry.
They elected all of these people.
Americans can now suffer mercilessly from their own actions.
They welcomed these thieves and pirates into their lives with open arms.
Like I posted late yesterday:
“Hey look, when you have a rookie just out of tee ball pitching in a major leauge baseball game, look for the opposing team to hit a BUNCH of home runs.”

A clear contradiction in terms, no doubt with the usual results.
There needs to be some focus on what happened AFTER the incident occurred. What if there were 4 or 5 other panties bombers in the air or getting ready to board planes?
How soon was Obama notified? What was his response?
Were pilots in the air notified? Were pilots on the ground notified?
Did a notification go out to look for Muslim bombers? If not why not?
The incompetence revealed by this one incident could go a long way in bringing down this administration.
Great - the biggest problem was a breakdown in intel analysis and movement, but she's sending her hacks out to harass airport security personnel. Why am I NOT surprised?
