President Barack Obama received a high-level briefing only three days before Christmas about possible holiday-period terrorist threats against the US, Newsweek has learned. The briefing was centered on a written report, produced by US intelligence agencies, entitled "Key Homeland Threats", a senior US official said.
The senior Administration official, who asked for anonymity when discussing sensitive information, said that nowhere in this document was there any mention of Yemen, whose Al-Qaeda affiliate is now believed to have been behind the unsuccessful Christmas Day attempt by Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab to bring down a transatlantic airliner with a bomb hidden in his underpants. However, the official declined to disclose any other information about the substance of the briefing, including what kind of specific warnings, if any, the President was given about possibly holiday attacks and whether Yemen came up during oral discussions.
According to the senior official, the holiday threat briefing, one in a series of regularly-scheduled sessions with top counter-terrorism officials, was held in the White House Situation Room on December 22. Present were representatives of agencies involved in counter-terrorism policy and operations, including Attorney General Eric Holder, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano and FBI Director Robert Mueller. The CIA and National Intelligence Directors Office were represented by deputy agency heads: CIA deputy director Steven Kappes, and David Gompert, the principal deputy to National Intelligence Czar Dennis Blair. Also present was Michael Leiter, director of the National Counter-terrorism Center, a unit of the Intelligence Czar's office which was created after 9/11 to ensure that intelligence reporting about possible terrorist plots was shared quickly among all US agencies who might have some capability to do something about it.

It’s not too difficult to feature how 0 would decide to turn over
the legislative upheaval they want to Pelosi and Reid to mostly
manage, while he and his cabal focus on executive branch
power, orchestrating the wars, the economy, etc. and the
moneyed resources who’ll fund his next election to insure
his power base.
But they’re fools ... busy fools, but fools. There are too
many elements in this world that are NOT in their control.
May the ‘angel in the whirlwind’ take control of the storm
they wish.... and soon.
The trial was moved to NYC for many reasons, all of them political. We will have to monitor the progress. It was orignally timed to start in 2011, but I have read reports that estimate it can’t possibly commence until 2013 which will make it a 2012 election issue. If we start hearing that the trial is on schedule, then all bets are off. We will endure a massive hit. Enough of a hit for him to declare martial law and dispense with the election he thinks he can’t win and yes, I think his handlers are fully capable of that.

Did Obama skip out, and take the written report...never to read it? Why such emphasis on no mention of Yemen?
Were all immediate references to "Nigeria" or "Nigerian"? Was there any mention of emergent plots involving PETN and airplanes?
IIRC, there was a high profile trial in NYC on 9/11/01.

The article's emphasis on plots originating in Yemen is very reminiscent of Clinton era parsing of words. Members of the DBM don't even care that their protection of Dems might get Americans killed.

Alright, flame suit on, but it seems that it would not be a surprise for the government to think that there might be attack attempts during the busy traveling period that the holidays are. This then brings up the question each administration as to which threats to take seriously and which to not. After all, I’m sure the Bush adminsitration too had threats coming every day and they needed to decide which to focus on.
