Ok, thanks for that link.
I know the decision has been in the works for months, but I didn’t know about it til yesterday.
Many loyal WPTF/RUSH/SEAN listeners won’t know about it til they try to tune in to Rush or Sean on WPTF and find other programming now playing in those slots.
That link says WRDU radio 106.1 is a 100,000 watts radio station. I don’t think I have ever listened to it before....guess I will be now.
WPTF still carries Mark Levin, 3 hrs. now I believe.
WPTF is going to be in real trouble with their lineup.
Neal Boortz is still on 101.1, 10AM-1PM.
One advantage to this change.
Most ipod type players don’t pickup AM.
With this change I can work in the yard while wearing earbuds and catch Rush and Co.
You can't do a head-to-head comparison of AM to FM power. 50k is the max for an AM station. WPTF goes directional after sunset and, under good conditions, gets all the way into northern Florida, which would be about 500 miles. It is a broadcasting pioneer with a storied history and a powerhouse signal.
(I have a lot of respect for the history that WPTF represents but I must say that their primary local talk guy -- Bill LuMaye-- is so weak that I can't help but feel that they could use a kick in the teeth. LuMaye is generally conservative but is an airhead. Lib callers and guests mop the floor with this lightweight. He's an embarrassment, IMO.)
