US President Barack Obama took a respite from the pile of grim news clouding his vacation, taking a group of friends and their kids for a chill Hawaii delicacy -- shave ice.
At a shave-ice store near his vacation rental, Obama on Friday picked one of the concotions, made of ice and fruit syrup and known as the "Snowbama" in his honor -- flavored with lemon-lime, cherry, and passion guava.
"That is the Snowbama," the president said, when reporters questioned his choice of treat, after he ordered the group 19 shave ice cones of various flavors.
Onlookers cheered Obama, who was with daughters Malia and Sasha and friends and their children who have been sharing his vacation in his home state.

I have been seeking the actual cost of our traveling royalty, and have been stone-walled. I set up a site a few months ago, and haven't yet gotten cooperation from AF or Marines. Casual computation has it somewhere over a BILLION DOLLARS now! Everybody on per diems, and all those packing away the fine beef and prawns, makes a lot of party costs. There are lots of extra aircraft and personnel involved in every trip. They're "living large..."

On a side note, while reading about Hawaii I ran across two interesting articles. One on how animal abuse is rampant in Hawaii and one on how most of the island is on welfare. Idiots in paradise perhaps.

Sno-cones are good on a hot day at the NY State fair—even for adults. I have always been partial to cherry. :-)
I’d be willing to bet all Sno-Cones on the mainland will now be called Shave Ice. Someone will have to report from Syracuse next August.
My kids used to have a Snoopy Sno-Cone Maker which made more mess than crushed ice. But they had fun.
Wouldn’t it be funny, if in those bags of chips against the wall, some of them were pork rinds? :)
