An Arctic front has moved into North Texas, dropping morning temperatures to the high 20s. The high this afternoon isn't expected to get past 40.

And a second, more severe front is on the way from Canada. It's expected to hit the Dallas area by Wednesday night, according to the National Weather Service.

Behind that second cold front, temperatures Thursday night could plunge to the high teens.

Protect those water pipes---insulate exposed water lines and drip them overnight. I'm shutting off the H20 main at night.

I feel for everyone in the deep freeze, especially those who are not accustomed to it.

Stay warm and dry...drive carefully and take all necessary precautions. If you don’t have to go out, don’t.

34 right now. Yesterday they said it was going to be in the 50s today so I think this front pushed in faster than expected.

We’ve been here before. It got down in single digits a few years ago — Dec. 05 maybe? And the winter of 83-84 was one for the books — single digits and even below zero over the holidays. Climate swings and extremes are a natural occurrence — especially in Texas.

We were just down there visiting our daughter over the New Years weekend. My daughter will be used to it having grown up in IL, but not so much the son-in-law and his family.

Looks like the good Creator of the Universe is showing
who is in charge and confounding ‘the wise’. Time after time He keeps dumping winter upon the enviros wacky gatherings to disperse them and show what fools they really are. Some things are WAY WAY beyond man’s control and best to leave it in the Almighty’s strong and capable hands -praise His Holy Name. AMEN.

Not a problem for me I am an avid outdoor person, but I see lots of ignorant people with no coats or gear if their car breaks down. In other words all the Obama voters will suffer a lot. All the Republican and Conservatives who are used to taking of themselves will be fine. And we always know most of the US north of us has it far worse.

I was thinking this was the winter of 1976-1977 here in Western PA. We had zero and subzero cold for about 3 months. The side door to my parents’ house froze and stayed frozen till about March. The snow wouldn't melt; it would just harden; rock salt and other ice melters were useless.

It's that global warming, ya know!

It has been cold here too. (Glendale, Ca)

Last night it got down to 50 degrees. Yesterdays high was a brisk 77 degrees.

Right now it’s 11 am, and it’s only 74 degrees.

Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr... ;-)

My neighbor is a car operator for the Palm Springs aerial tramway.....takes people from balmy PS to over 8000 snowy feet. He sees idiots like this every day.

“but I see lots of ignorant people with no coats or gear if their car breaks down”

My 18 year old and his older brother were leaving my parents house a couple of days after Christmas, snow on the ground and I made my son take shoes (he wears Birkenstock knock offs year round) in case the car broke down. They didn’t get 15 min. away before the fuel regulator valve crapped out and we had to go get them and have he car towed.

Good thing they didn’t get an hour or two away. Got to rub it in real good with my younger son.

Definitely cold from this area. But at least we’re not up north. A friend of mine just got back from Minnesota. When they left the other morning, his car’s air temp gauge said -33. Dang .... I can’t even imagine what that must feel like.
