When are Republican legislators going to walk the walk?
I do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God.
We need to hold them accountable. Republicans should be pounding on Reid, Pelosi and Obama day and night.
now we know what it feels like to be in the shoes of the founding fathers.
I love the so help me God part! There is going to be hell to pay someday! It will not be pretty!
If America is at war; this also means enemies foreign and domestic; including those that fail to up hold the Constitution in its strictest sense; including politicians and the political class! For the Constitution is not subject to how one feels day to day, as prevaricators pretend.
I think 2010 is going to be a VERY interesting year. Hope all FReepers are ready.
ZERO is banking on the hope that you and I forget.
When rats swear to “support and defend,” they lie.
When pubbies swear to “support and defend,” they don’t mean it.
But, but, but I thought that it was a “living document”?
Your right, How hard is this ,I heard the replay On Becks Show yesterday Of Tom Harkin Democrat Senator at the News Conference celebrating the Vote on Health Care Saying they had Passed an Inalienable RIGHT! Excuse me who appointed him or any other Slimy politician GOD? This is really out of Control,Its bad enough when they pass legislation but now they are passing Inalienable RIGHTS.
God Help Us
The "amendment process" is the mechanism making it "living."
However, just as FDR's "New Deal" was found largely un-constitutional, likely so will be "0-care" if any "controlling legal authority" is ever awakened. A case in point, no one has yet "tested" via the justice system whether the state of Massachusetts' "universal health care" approach is legal.
While the "law giving" document for the United States of America is its Constitution - when laws are not enforced (say, the Bubba DoJ under Janet Reno), in effect there are no laws.
But, but, but I thought that it was a living document?
Exactly how a certain Senator from the State of South Dakota views it. That would be Timmy “two tongues” Johnson. I would say it has been at least ten years since I heard it IIRC from his mouth on the radio, and at the time I was absolutely appalled, so much so, I called his office and “went off” on the young staffer that answered the phone. Didn’t seem to bother the voters, as they routinely reelect him although his most recent, I consider to be the largest sympathy vote in the history of SD.
Shame on you! You probably confused the young, uneducated twit staffer. “Constitution? Isn’t that when you go to the bathroom every morning?”
Shame on you!
Indeed, I did apologize to the staffer, for shooting the messenger, but who has ever talked to their Senator directly unless at a FUND raiser.
PS: This could apply to me as well, assuming you are one, I is one as well. Think large American soup company.
