President Obama: No more 'finger-pointing'

By: Josh Gerstein and Carol E. Lee January 5, 2010 03:30 AM EST

President Barack Obama will deliver a stern warning to his appointees at a meeting Tuesday afternoon that he won’t tolerate efforts by the CIA, the State Department and others to shift blame for the recent intelligence foul-up to other parts of the government, said spokesman Robert Gibbs.

“We are going to move beyond agency finger-pointing,” Gibbs told reporters. “The president will not find acceptable a response where everybody gets in a circle and points at someone else. The American people won’t accept that.”

Twenty of the nation's top security officials are gathering in the Situation Room to hear Obama demand answers about the intelligence failures that failed to prevent the attempted bombing of an airliner on Christmas Day.

The scheduled 90-minute session is Obama’s first chance to go face to face with those responsible for securing the nation and offers him a big opportunity to set the tone and tempo for the government’s response to the terror plot against Northwest Flight 253.

While Obama has ordered separate reviews of both the breakdown in intelligence analysis and the inability of the current screening system to detect the explosives the suspect, Umar Abdul Mutallab, allegedly brought on the plane, Gibbs made clear that the president sees the intelligence snafu as more serious.

Gibbs also said Obama shares the concerns of many Americans that reforms put in place after the Sept. 11 attacks were not adequate to head off the attempted Christmas bombing.

He and Nancy can be brazen to their hearts content, because they know there is no MSM to call them on it.

Never before in the history of the Republic that we had a President like Obama who lies with such shamelessness and speaks exactly the total opposite of what he does.

I never thought I'd see a more brazen liar than he-who-did-not-have-sex-with-that-woman. But you're right: Obama makes Clinton seem like a pillar of truth by comparison.

Let’s see...who put the reforms after 911 in place that Dear Leader deems to be inadequate to keep Americans safe? As he denounces pointing fingers...he’s pointing his at President Bush. Too clever by half, Bam Bam!

It’s George Bush’s fault and that is it.

Gee I wonder why someone would want to stop the finger pointing...can't imagine that the person might be afraid that ALL of the fingers would point back to them...

Is there no end to his narcissism?

The press in this country is going to get us all killed. Here's Politico telling us that the big thing that's going to happen this week on the subject of terrorism is a meeting. And one of the big things we need to watch for in this meeting is whether we will hear The Measured Obama or The Angry And Stern Obama.

Our enemies came thissssssClose to blowing an airplane full of people out of the sky, and these idiot journalists think the big issue is what tone of voice Obama will take at a meeting.

A meeting. And a government meeting at that. When's the last time you saw a life-or-death situation solved by holding a meeting? And do we care what tone of voice Obama uses? Raise your hand if you think an old Washington hand like Leon Panetta gives a flying fig whether The Kid in the Crown is angry? Panetta could be home in California, warm, retired on his millions. He needs this CIA gig like a hole in the head. Yet to hear Politico tell it, our success or failure in fighting terrorism depends on whether Obama sounds cross in a meeting. This while the guy who tried to blow up the plane is Mirandized, lawyered up, and negotiating a plea bargain. A FRIGGING PLEA BARGAIN! For a wartime enemy who damn near killed 300 people, and would have except that his bomb fizzled out.

Never mind the meetings, Politico. Ask yourself whether Obama is even looking in the right quadrant of the galaxy for the answer. Hint: he's not.
