Actually, that’s not what I said. I said it is a liberal tactic to assume bad faith as a given whenever someone disagrees.

I don’t believe these things are true of (many of) those who believe strongly in the whole birther thing. I just find some of their denunciations of those who hold a different opinion to be unworthy of someone claiming the proud name of “conservative.”

Lincoln, who I admire greatly, bent every effort to assume good motives on the part of his political opponents, during the greatest crisis in American history. I believe it is both honorable and in the long run politically more effective to do the same.

You were saying ...

I just find some of their denunciations of those who hold a different opinion to be unworthy of someone claiming the proud name of “conservative.”

I knew what you meant, and I was emphasizing the point in my own way, you see... :-)

But, I agree with you, as I've seen the issue as needing to be handled another way. I believe the real solution to this problem that the "birthers" are so "on about" -- is, very simply, some state laws making it mandatory for a candidate to show his birth certificate or else he cannot be on the ballot in that state. All we need is just a few states to do this, and it would shut out Obama for the next election.

That's the solution that I saw was needed right away. And in fact, several states did go ahead and try to put that through their own state legislatures. My own state of Oklahoma tried, but it failed in one house. I would imagine that it will be tried again, this session. At least I'm going to see to it.

However, with me having said that is what is needed for a solution -- I was immediately called a liberal, a leftist, a Marxist, a Obot, a troll (and you name it... LOL). So I know how that goes.

In fact, I ended up with quite a "following" (doncha know...) of these "Obama Derangement Syndrome" types around here, trying to get me banned, censored and told to go back to the DU... etc... :-)

I expect them to show up at any time..., if they still have "no shame left" in their character...

That approach didn't work out so well for McCain.
