21 House Seats moving towards GOP (2010 predictions)
Rothenberg Report ^ | Jan 5, 2009 | Stu Rothenberg

Posted on 01/05/2010 7:25:36 PM PST by MillardFillmore

Left-leaning but theoretically non-partisan Stu Rothenberg did his quarterly update of House races. He moved 21 races in the direction of the GOP from his previous update. He has Dems at least losing 18 seats if GOP picks up the toss-ups and the lean-R's. Hopefully will be better than +18 but at least he's moving in the right direction with his predictions

If they are saying: MD 1 (Kratovil, D) is a tossup, then you should feel good about this list.

That is not nearly enough.

I live in that district. If it’s a toss-up we are in a world of hurt.

If that’s all the GOP can pick up after 2 years of Obama...then America is never coming back.

Note to all Freepers: If you are not running for an office, why not? And if you are not truly able to run for an office and yet are not helping a conservative run for an office using your time and money, why not? Because we can no longer sit around while liberals destroy our country. And if you are looking for some guidance, check out http://pushbackuntil.com. We need laws to protect us from government. Oh - and I am running: http://richter2010.com, so I am putting my time and money where my mouth is.

The benchmark needs to be the 54 seats the GOP picked up in 1994. Anything less would be a failure - we need to set our sights much higher. Gaining a mere 21 seats accomplishes little politically.

The GOP cannot get behind conservative candidates when afford an opportunity to do so. If they pick up 18 then why is anyone all that surprised?

True.

If we hear Hannity use the term, "slam dunk," we're screwed. We need to fight for 60 to get 40 because too often, Republicans are complacent and over confident.

Interesting concept (Freepers running for office). I would definitely vote for any Freeper running for public office. But would any of us actually stand a chance of getting elected?

Reason I say that is that all of us post here on a regular basis and our political opponents would have a field day cherry-picking our comments here and using them against us. Even the more careful poster would be vulnerable to having their comments taken out of context or lumped in with the comments of others on the same thread.

As we move forward in the information age, politicians (or would-be politicians) of the future are going to have every internet posting they ever made scrutinized and if possible, used against them in an election campaign.

Interesting times lie ahead.

What I meant was that Harris will win so having someone call it a only a toss up makes me feel good. If things hold the dems will lose lots of seats.

if the left-leaning pollster is saying 21, I’m betting it’s higher.

First rule, politics is a roller-coaster. Don’t assume the world is ending when there’s a dip. The generic ballot is plus 9 for the republicans, a virtual first. Next, the Bamster is -19, another bad sign. Virtually all of the so-called Blue Dogs are dead men walking. I was in DC two weeks ago. Minnik from Idaho, freshman who took a traditional Republican seat is seen as dead man walking. And there are many more. You walk into these Blue Dog’s offices and they have a sign pretending to be upset about the $50 trillion deficit. What have they done to control it? No, this has all the makings of a blow out. People have never been this angry. Look at NJ, elected Christie and threw out Corzine. Same with VA. In Westchester NY our three term County Exec a dim, lost by a landslide.

Don’t believe everything you read in the papers.

None of us would stand a chance, and our greatest opposition would not come from the Democrats, but from the RNC’s own elite ranks, who view people like us as “riff raff” and “stupid rabble.”

The GOP’s fundraising is way, way down - showing how disgusted the rank-n-file are with the GOP leadership. They don’t have money to spread all over the place, but they certainly seem to have money to put behind RINO candidates.

This shows that any candidate who comes from the actual public, instead of the incestuously connected and inbred beltway “elites” is going to have to run against 1) the GOP and 2) if they win (1), then the DNC.
