Kim Jong-il's China Visit Imminent? "Border Customs Closed"
Japanese media, "Beefed up security at Dandong Train Station" ... U.S. "welcomes dialogue"
Yang Jung-a 2010-01-06 10:57
More policemen are dispatched in Dandong, China, which is right across the border from Shinuiju, N. Korea, and customs are closed, which could be to lay groundwork for Kim Jong-il's visit to China, according to Jan. 6 report by Nihon Geizai Shimbun.
Quoting officials at Dandong Customs, it reported, "Nobody is allowed to cross the border without special approval effective on Jan. 5. The customs are basically closed."
"Police presence at Dandong Station increased dramatically, prompting Chinese to speculate that the authorities could be ready for Kim's visit," the paper reported.

According to Reuters(link & excerpts below) quoting the same source Nihon Geizai Shimbun, it reports that N. Korean part of customs are closed and its police force is beefed up along the rail link. However, I suspect they got it wrong. Japanese paper was reporting about the development of Chinese side, IMHO.

North Korea signalling Kim may visit China-report
06 Jan 2010 02:21:22 GMT
Source: Reuters
SEOUL, Jan 6 (Reuters) - North Korean authorities have tightened security around a rail border crossing into China, indicating leader Kim Jong-il may be about to visit his neighbour and biggest benefactor, a report said in Wednesday. Kim's rare trips to China have led to moves that decrease the security threat Pyongyang poses to the region. The focus of this visit would be whether Kim will end his year-long boycott of international nuclear disarmament talks, analysts said. North Korea on Tuesday shut a customs house in the northwest part of the country near the Chinese border city of Dandong, effectively closing the region, and sent police to reinforce the rail link, Japan's Nihon Keizai newspaper reported.

Got the photogs of him visiting a tank unit day before yesterday, (4 January 2009). They brag that it was -30 centigrade weather. My the Korean People just love the little guy TO DEATH, dont they?:
Not to mention, the world's largest umbrella for the man with the smallest ===== in the world.
Trying to also play "Spot the Kim Jong Un" in any of these "on the spot guidance" photos coming out of Pyongyang these days.

What's up with the soldier in bright blue gloves? He lost military issue and got ones from the local market?

What is funny is the lack of uniformity in the “uniforms” of the enlisted KPA saps out there, freezing their tata’s off.

Giving another look, I noticed that the guy with blue gloves is also wearing 'civilian pants.' I think the guy owes some explanation to his CO or even Chia Head.
Basically, half of his uniforms are missing.:-)

And gray pants. My Guess: civilian poitical officer/secret police acting as “cheerleader.” Just put on Uniform jacket to look like a soldier spontaneously “loving Dear Leader.”
