In 1933 the “bottom-up” awakening was a bunch of violent thugs who beat people up in the streets. I don’t see current European citizens replicating that. They’ll protest and try to vote for change, and will be ignored until its too late.
There are still plenty of thugs left in Europe, especially in the former Eastern Block. Based on my experience, at least. East Germany, Poland, Russia, the former Yugoslavia. Even Scotland and England. Cromwell’s Roundheads are lurking out there somewhere. I wouldn’t count them out just yet.
