The Japanese refer to it as a "Cetacean Research Vessel".
Well since they're in the market for a new secret weapon, I think this one is available...
IIRC there was a situation with a missing deckhand from a Japanese boat, assumed to be overboard. I believe the Sea Shepherds offered assistance to that and did keep a look out. If memory serves they were not really in range to do much good though. I cannot recall if the Japanese accepted their offer.
Why waste a perfectly good clown???
I was thinking a flag that reads BANG! would suffice.
Although the Sheperd group has most often been the instigator of collisions in the past, in this case they were clearly attacked. You must understand some science, specifically relativistic motion, to have a clue about this. The other video shot from a distance aboard the other ship tells the real story. And the video from the Ady Gil clearly shows that they were basically sitting around idling shooting the breeze when the Japanese ship came after them. At the last few seconds they realized they were about to be rammed and tried to move, which may or may not have made it worse. Look at the other two videos and understand relative motion. There is no doubt once you do that.
