I can’t decide if this is good news or not. Salazar is at least tied to the Obama administration which is getting to be about as popular as the plague. However Ritter was a guaranteed loss since he’d done such a horrible job.

Salazar is a pretty savvy sort, and will not hold back on any sleeze to get elected. I worked a bit back on the Coors campaign that ran against Salazar, and Coors lost pretty much purely on getting tarred with sleeze.

Sounds like another “strategic resignation” for the Democratic Party. Get the damaged goods out, put in a new face in hopes that it will swing the numbers enough to hold the seat for the party.

It also sounds - it being “White House Ok” - very Politburo-ish. I have no doubt Rahm or Obama have had a hand in planning and picking the chosen replacements for at least some of these Democrats resigning.

Salazar has become the Obama lackey in the destruction of high-paying oil and gas jobs in Colorado. In fact, today he announced more strict regulations on oil and gas leases on BLM land. I think he is not in the same position to run as a phony moderate who's concerned with Colorado. He's just another Washington boy now.

Salazer is part of the problem with the water issue here in CA. Would not be sad to see him go.

Salazar carries lots of baggage. He really dumped on Colorado when he was Attorney General. His election was based on a very large Hispanic and illegal population in Denver. The economy has adjusted that advantage against him. Scott McGinnis who is the likely Republican Candidate is very popular and knows Salazar very well. This will be a race and Colorado has a history of returning to conservative roots every time the Democrats spend them into poverty.
