I suspect that letters or phone calls to both newspapers would have resulted in a birth announcement appearing in print. That sounds like a no brainier.

The fact that they went to the trouble of digging up newspaper announcements instead of putting out his real birth certificate should tell people that there is a problem. I am sure there is a birth announcement for me, but I have never seen it. I present my BC when I need to. I don’t show a stupid newspaper clipping.
