What is a high end health plan? Annual premiums greater than $8000 for individuals and $21,000 for families.

Are you sure that employer contributions don't count? I thought the idea was to tax employer contributions as income.

Didn’t the senate demons already say they will exempt some of the unions from paying the tax?

What exactly IS a “High-End” Insurance Plan?

Will CONGRESS be taxed on THEIR “Cadillac” Health-Insurance Plans, or will they be exempt from this, too?

The only people really hurt by this will be the middle-class - the *workers* who the Dems SUPPOSEDLY care SO much about!

Depends on the plan you start out with re: COBRA payments. And, remember that COBRA while laid-off is MUCH less per month than COBRA when switching jobs.

Granted, we are paying for family coverage, but when my husband was laid off earlier this year our premiums were around $430/mo. When he got a new job 2 mos. ago, our COBRA premiums were $1000.00 per month (and that’s with a $500.00/per person deductible - a plan they switched the company’s to during the time my husband was laid-off).

And my dream is that the next Republican president will, with the stroke of his/her executive pen, roll back some of this garbage in the first month of the administration.

You are right - it isn’t about Healthcare AT ALL. It’s all about control. [The same as rape isn’t about sex, but control/power as well.]

I don’t know about the new currency, but I wouldn’t doubt it, frankly. In regards to sovereignty - back during Copenhagen I participated a little in the Climate Pool experiment on Facebook. I kept getting called a “flat-earther” (my thanks to Gordon Brown, Idiot of the UK), but I also got flack for my interest in the Constitution and US sovereignty itself - being accused of holding on to “18th C. ideals” as if Freedom and Liberty were “old-fashioned”. Can’t tell you how much that ticked me off...

Anyway, back to this healthcare bill:
So many get mired in all the details, or brought along with tear-jerking stories. One thing I’d love to point out to the liberals who support this bill, but that I’m having trouble putting into words is the following (anyone caring to assist putting this succinctly is welcome to help me! It’s something that needs to be brought to their attention!)

Who are the uninsured? Besides those who work several part-time jobs without benefits to make ends meet (as many of my friends used to do right out of high school), or are *under-employed*... it is the _HOMELESS_. This bill makes those people automatic CRIMINALS! So, the very people the Democrats are supposedly trying to help are the ones they are placing even more obstacles in the way of!

I can just imagine - the Dept. of Public Health and Safety starts deputizing people, they round up the homeless without insurance, and throw them in jail... No more people on the street (so it looks good even though it’s not). Are they then going to say - well at least they aren’t homeless anymore, and they have access to health care in jail?

As I said, I can’t put the above idea into a succinct explanation, so help with that from people here is appreciated! Feel free to FReepmail me in order to not derail this thread.

Is that one clause still in the wording of this bill? I remember the discussions on the Senate floor not a month ago when a GOP Senator pointed out the wording in the bill that would prevent that exact scenario, and even FURTHER would actually restrict any future Congress from amending it.

If it’s true, then neither a future President or Congress could undo the damage once this goes through (unless SCOTUS finds it Unconstitutional - which it obviously is).

Well, Nutmeg, as for the Divine Intervention, it seems a little too coincidental to me that at the height of the global warming nonsense the planet becomes frigid for a time. I think Brown can win on the merits, but I am praying and would rejoice for the help.

They will exempt union negotiated health care plans...that will drive unionization up at a rapid rate in the short term.

Mark it down!

Is he going to debate it on C-SPAN?

No, but in other news, he has decided to start taxing C-SPAN!

RE :” I thought the idea was to tax employer contributions as income.”

Both employer and employee are not taxable now. $8000 per individual seems a bit high in either case. Doesnt seem like this will raise much revenue.

“how many people have a 21,000 dollar plan? My bet is 1%”

It’s not people, it’s families. $8000 for individuals. That is how much your employer pays for your insurance coverage. If you have decent coverage it would easily cost $21,000 per family.

Remember that it’s not what you pay, it’s what you and your employer pay. Many people receive “Cadillac health plans” or “high end” health plans and have no idea that they do because their employers don’t tell them what the benefit truly costs, just what their (the employees) portion of the premium is (usually about 1/3 of the total in most large companies and usually never more than half even in smaller companies). If I pay 350 a month for health care coverage, then my employer is likely paying twice that or perhaps more depending on how I negotiated things with my employer. You will pay tax on all of it, not just your portion as well - keep that in mind!

666 a month would be 222 out of your pocket and 444 out of your employer’s pocket (not unlikely at all even for single coverage).

High-end plans, or ‘Cadillac Plans’, are plans that where the premium are $8k+ for individuals or $21k+ for families.

So, what kinds of benefits does one get for the extra premium?

Ok MSM....are you gonna start a “Read my lips” style attack on him like you did to Bush, Sr? YOu are inconsistent hyposcrites are you? He only promised 900 times that he wouldn’t raise taxes by one dime on people making less than 250K, 200K, 150K, etc.
