I will take off my shoes, go through a full body scanner, whatever. All I ask is that Muslims go through a process that is 10x as thorough as the one I go through.

This should be the security screening process:

1. Remove all items on your person and place on belt for x-ray examination.

2. Step through metal detector.

3. Eat one (1) strip of bacon.

4. Retrieve your items.

I wonder what the purpose of this is? They seem to be going after Delta flights lately. A pity, not only because I fly Delta a lot, but because Delta staff was actually a little more pleasant than the highly-stressed staff on some other airlines I’ve had occasion to fly in recent years. Having a flight disrupted just about twice a week certainly isn’t going to improve morale.

Yep. Noisy, dispruptive, obvious groups. Contrast that to the low-profile kept by Mutallab, and the apparent dry run couple aboard the exact same flight precisely a week prior to Mutallab's attempt. Quiet, unassuming Muslims not traveling in an obvious group are suddenly invisible. Quite an edge, I'd say. Who needs the much-predicted lily-whites to carry out an attack when you can create an equivalent through mere perception? In far less time, and without all the hassle of actually finding a Lutheran Grandma in Iowa willing to blow herself up.

Toledo man charged in shooting incident

A South Toledo man was arrested yesterday on an outstanding firearms charge after police found him hiding in the woods behind his house.

Mansor Asad , 38, of 816 Southbriar Rd., was booked into the Lucas County jail on a misdemeanor firearms charge.

He was released from the jail after posting a $50 bond four hours after police went to his house about 7:15 a.m. on a report of a man who was acting strange and lying in the front yard with a camouflage outfit.

Officers saw him walking in the yard with a long pole in his hand. He walked away after making contact with police several houses away.

Officers looked inside his residence to find him, but only found two pit bull dogs. They contacted the Lucas County dog warden’s office.

An officer observed the man in the woods behind the house.

He told police he had several weapons inside his residence. Police found a loaded 12-gauge shotgun, a handgun, and ammunition and $855 in a bag in the man’s car, which they searched after he said he might have stored a gun there. No weapon was found.

The firearms charge stemmed from an unrelated incident Saturday in which the suspect is accused of shooting a shotgun and firing at a parked car and a street light in front of his house, according to court records.
