National Cancer Institute Researcher Admits Abortion Breast Cancer Link

By Thaddeus M. Baklinski

WASHINGTON, DC, January 7, 2010 (LifeSiteNews.com) - U.S. National Cancer Institute researcher Dr. Louise Brinton, who was the chief organizer of the National Cancer Institute (NCI) workshop in 2003 that persuaded women that it was "well established" that "abortion is not associated with increased breast cancer risk," has reversed her position and now admits that abortion and oral contraceptives raise breast cancer risks.

An April 2009 study by Jessica Dolle et al. of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center examining the relationship between oral contraceptives (OCs) and triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC), an aggressive form of breast cancer associated with high mortality, in women under age 45, contained an admission from Dr. Brinton and her colleagues that abortion raises breast cancer risk by 40%.

The study found that "a statistically significant 40% increased risk for women who have abortions" exists, and that a " 270% increased risk of triple negative breast cancer (an aggressive form of breast cancer associated with high mortality) among those who used oral contraceptives while under age 18 and a 320% increased risk of triple negative breast cancer among recent users (within 1-5 years) of oral contraceptives," also exists.

This means that women who start using OCs before age 18 multiply their risk of TNBC by 3.7 times and recent users of OCs within the last one to five years multiply their risk by 4.2 times.

"Although the study was published nine months ago," stated Karen Malec, president of the Coalition on Abortion/Breast Cancer, in a press release, "the NCI, the American Cancer Society, Susan G. Komen for the Cure and other cancer fundraising businesses have made no efforts to reduce breast cancer rates by issuing nationwide warnings to women."

"Obviously, more women will die of breast cancer if the NCI fails in its duty to warn about the risks of OCs and abortion and if government funds are used to pay for both as a part of any healthcare bill," said Mrs. Malec.

Last year, studies from Turkey and China also reported statistically significant risk increases for women who had abortions.

The Turkish study reported a 66% increased risk of breast cancer for women with abortions while the Chinese study found a statistically significant 17% increased breast cancer risk among Chinese women who had induced abortions.

Mrs. Malec said, "The Chinese and the Turkish studies are relevant considering the debate over government-funded abortion through healthcare reform" in the US. "Government-funded abortion means more dead American women from breast cancer."

An abstract of the Jessica Dolle study is available here.

There are some other disturbing news about Breast Cancer. Oral Contraceptives are carcinogens (estrogen). Things like the Vagina Monologues are misleding, as girls/women who engage in sexual activity increase breast cancer risks.

World Health Organization: Oral Contraceptives and Menopausal Therapy Are 'Carcinogenic to Humans'' / Scientists' Findings Provide Additional Biological Support for an Abortion-Breast Cancer Link

The World Health Organization (WHO) distributed a press release late last month announcing that a review of published scientific evidence conducted by a group of 21 scientists in eight countries has concluded that combined oral contraceptives (estrogen plus progestogen) and combined menopausal therapy are "carcinogenic to humans." [1] Their research was conducted under the auspices of the IARC Monographs Programme of the International Agency for Research on Cancer.

The British journal, Lancet Oncology, carried an article discussing the WHO findings this month. Its authors, Vincent Cogliano and his colleagues, reported, "Most combined contraceptives are taken orally, but they can also be delivered by injection, transdermal patch, or vaginal ring." [2]

The above was released in 2005.

I keep saying - this is the tack conservatives should take regarding abortion.

Don’t bother moralizing, it doesn’t work and it scares people.

But emphasize the real health risks, physical, emotional and mental that accompany abortion, at the time of the act, and long into the young woman’s future.

BUMP!

When talking w individuals DO NOT use the abortion reference first!
They will get defensive and be offended, especially if they’ve had breast cancer.

In one-on-one conversations, stick to “the pill” association with breast cancer.
Then they can blame the “evil pharma” companies, and more easily accept your input.

I’m NOT condoning ANYTHING!
I’m talking about effective communication!

There is also the following from the Abortion Breast Cancer (www.abortionbreastcancer.com) website about the biological explanation of the ties between abortion and breast cancer:

Abortion is no longer a grandmother's disease but a young women's disease because of abortion...

There is the following excerpt from the Abortion Breast Cancer web site (www.abortionbreastcancer.com):

Only a few decades ago, breast cancer was known to be a grandmother’s disease. Because of abortion, it has become a young woman’s disease, and breast cancer rates have skyrocketed over 40% since the surgical procedure was legalized in the U.S. in 1973.

Observing that breast cancer has emerged as a young woman’s illness only in recent decades, New Jersey breast cancer surgeon, Angela Lanfranchi, M.D., F.A.C.S., declared under oath in a California lawsuit that she has discussed the research with many physicians and encouraged them to get reproductive histories from their patients. Among the doctors who have obtained these histories, they’ve “found as I did that ... cases of breast cancer in young women are associated with an abortion history.” [[Agnes Bernardo, Pamela Colip, and Saundra Duffy-Hawkins v. Planned Parenthood Federation of America and Planned Parenthood of San Diego and Riverside Counties; Superior Court of the State of California, County of San Diego, August 15, 2001]

Seems this news even makes Pro-Life, Conservatives, here at FR uncomfortable.

Bump! Promote and discuss!

This is about informing your daughters about the risks of relying on “the pill”!

Your sense of guilt or fear is NOT a priority!

This also means that the V-Monologues will cause problems.

The Catholic Way prior to Vatican II prevented breast cancer -- either having children somewhat early in life (20-25) or the nuns/women religious lived at that time.

The nuns/women religous had a life style that helped to prevent breast cancer -- despite not having children. They took vows of chastity and abstinence from sex. Also of importance is that physical exercise prevents breast cancer.

On the other hand, the V-Monologues promoting the idea of if it feels good, then do it has horrific consequences.

There are women in their 20's finding out they have to have double mastectomies because of sexual habits and abortion (the pill, problems abortion causes in regards to increasing the risk of breast cancer, and the fact the estrogen is a carcinogen).

Sex by women generates estrogen -- it is natures way. But too much of it is bad -- especially since it is meant to be part of the process of procreation.
