Detroit (AP) - A Nigerian man accused of trying to blow up a Detroit-bound Northwest Airlines flight on Christmas Day was indicted Wednesday on charges including attempted murder and trying to use a weapon of mass destruction to kill nearly 300 people.

Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, 23, was traveling from Amsterdam when he tried to destroy the plane by injecting chemicals into a package of pentrite explosive concealed in his underwear, authorities say.

I have’t heard any mention of how he was able to obtain a visa to enter the US.

He will be allowed to plead “guilty” to “creating a bad smell on an airplane”.

I’m surprised insurance companies aren’t upset about this - had he been successful they would have not had to cover - I think most have riders to not cover damages if due to acts of terrorism.

CBS:... "trying to use a 'weapon of mass destruction'."

Is there a new definition for WMD?

It has been widely reported on CBS that we never found any WMD's in Iraq, etc. Thus, we failed in Iraq. But now they seem quite common here in the US with all the terrorist attacks. Still, I will hear a moonbat caller say.."Where were the WMD's"? "Bush lied"."

Recently PBS ran a documentary on Saddam, Uday and Qusay. The canals [Garden of Eden] were engineered away from villages, farms, which, of course; was meant to take away the natural course of their water supply.

Interesting documentary. At the end of the documentary, I will always remember the PBS commentator said this act was Saddam's biggest WMD - water.
