I have no intention of voting for James for anything — never have particularly appreciated folks who try to capitalize on their name recognition and morph into politics.

However, I can assure you that if the James kid had been my son, Leach would have preferred the wrath of God over my reaction. There is no excuse whatsoever for how he treated that kid, and likely others before him. “Suck it up” only goes so far, particularly when a player’s health is in danger.

So there are really no good guys in the story, as far as I’m concerned. And no good guy likely to occupy the governor’s mansion anytime soon.

Pity. We should be able to do better.

Putting a kid with a concussion in a cool, dark room with a plasma tv is not torture. In fact it's what Doctors recommend for concussed patients and migraine headache sufferers (minus the tv of course). This kid and his dad screwed things for themselves by being crybabies for two years before this incident.

you have no idea about what Leach did. The infamous "closet" incident happened day 24 hours AFTER he received the concussion. So the day AFTER he came to practice and was probably not allowed to dress but expected to participate in non contact drill, I suppose. Then 3 days after the concussion the player again was told to go rest in a closet or shed or whatever.

Without knowing what grade of concussion there is no way anybody could post here or anywhere what the treatment or follow up is.

Leach probably wanted to make sure that James wasn't goofing off and playing up his concussion by skipping practice, so he made him waste time but not hang out on the sidelines. Actually he did the right thing, there was NO CHANCE that Adam James was going to get a second concussion by sitting in the shed/room/closet. The trainers were put there to make sure he didn't leave.. but if you think about it. It would be the same as being in an observation ward and not being able to leave. The only thing James didn't have was X-Box or friends around.

From what I saw of the young man smiling and videotaping the "closet" , I think he's a douche. However Leach made the fatal error of not realizing that no matter how big you are (I quote Bob Dylan) "ya gotta serve somebody. It may be the Devil or the Lord, but ya gotta serve somebody".

So ESPN, the Tech administration and the James family had a Leach throw down and got his rear booted.

I've seen the same thing many times. No matter how big you think you are, you're somebody's b#tch.
