How is Perry on immigration? The role of government and fiscal restraint? What are your issues with him. Thanks.

Perry says whatever his audience wants to hear. He has, in his years in office, proven to be a smooth talker who is more than willing to sell us out when convenient.

Kind of like Hutchison.

Google “rick perry” with “trans texas corridor” or “gardisil” or “eminient domain” and start reading.

That said, I will in all likelihood vote for Perry in March and November. The most important issue for the person we elect to the governorship this fall will be congressional redistricting triggered by new census figures. It is absolutely critical that a Republican governor oversee this process, including calling special sessions of our legislature that (fortunately) meets regularly only every two years.

Ironically, while I don’t trust Perry on anything else, I do trust him to do right in redistricting, primarily because it’s in his own best political interest. He has proven that he can do this, and Medina is too inexperienced, Hutchison too wishy-washy.
