The whole Pacific looks rather busy along the shore lines.

I have been doing considerable research on vulcanism and earthquakes for the past few centuries for a book I am writing. I have a theory that we have about a 100 year cycle wherein for about 30 years there is more severe activity, following by 60 or 70 years of less activity except for one blip in the middle.

I see this cycle as having begun in the early 1980’s with St. Helens and Mexican and South American volcanos. Building with Pinitubo and the great Indonesian/tsunami quakes. I think we are due for at least one more catastrophic event before this cycle ends in less than 10 years. Could be another major volcano or earthquake. [St. Louis/New Madrid area, California, Alaska, Indonesia, South America, or a combination.] Time will tell.

The previous cycle began with Krakatoa in 1883, Charleston earthquake 1886, Caribbean plate events of 1902 and 03, San Francisco EQ in 1906, and ending with Katmai in Alaska in 19ll/12.

Before that was the cycle beginning with the Laki Fissure in Iceland in 1783, the New Madrid earthquakes of 1811-12, and others and ending with Tambora in 1815.
